Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion
What have you got loading up at start up? What are your system specs? Are you getting mail through the mail app or a previously installed Windows essentials pack?

Having had a look about Windows 10 I was not impressed, I have reverted back to Windows 7, much more at home with it.

Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion
Did you check the activation status prior to reverting back? Having your key active for W10 whether or not you're running it is a good idea just incase you want to upgrade later on after the years free upgrade. Having said that what happened with your upgrade?

Sorry to hear that..but you are aware that support is finishing for Windows 7.
Mainstream ended in January. You have another 5 years until the end of extended support.

I still have the little 'windows' icon in my systems tray(?) so would still be able to upgrade at a later date. I had several annoying things happening, Windows Live Mail kept asking me to log in with one of my other email accounts, even though I could see the emails in the background being downloaded. Couldn't find the snipping tool, and also the search kept taking me on the web instead of searching the lappy, so I began to get teasy (as they say down here).

You could have removed live mail and used the W10 mail app.
Snipping tool is available I'm not sure why you could not find it. Typing snipping tool into the search box.
There is the option to only search 'My stuff' or 'Web' just above the search box once you have typed something in.

Do you mind sharing your system specs? On first boot of W10 it's expected to be a little slow while everything is loaded up for the first time etc. You can then configure to your needs. How is your machine running W7?

Where to find the Snipping Tool in Windows 10
Quote:
Update: As pointed out by our readers, Microsoft have moved the Snipping Tool in its final release version of Windows 10. It now lives in a location where we are probably more used to accessing it from. So, to start the Snipping Tool, click on the Start icon and then the All Apps option. This brings up an alphabetical list of programs and folders. Scroll down to the ‘W’ section and click on the Windows Accessories folder. The Snipping Tool should be listed in this folder.
If you’re going to use the Snipping Tool frequently, then you may want to take advantage of one of two options in the right-click context menu on the Snipping Tool, namely ‘Pin to Start’ and ‘Pin to Taskbar’.
...
Perhaps unsurprisingly, we couldn’t find any differences in functionality between a Win 7 snipping tool app and the Win 10 version!

If only there was a way of searching for solutions to problems.

Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion
This wasn't the first boot of Windows 10. I had also tried to restart but ended up booting because it was taking such a time. I did search for 'snipping tool' and 'windows accessories', but it failed to find both. The search for snipping tool took me to the web. I prefer the old search bar.

No it's not, maybe you are just cleverer than me. I wasn't impressed, maybe I will at some point have another go, but at least I know what I will be letting myself in for.

Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion
Judging from your posts your first experience hasn't let you in to what W10 really is so no you don't know what you'll be letting yourself in for. I don't know what else you're talking about tbh. The upgrade should be a smooth transition from an old bore. You haven't been able to give W10 a chance because something has ballsed up. There are plenty who would happily assist you further... ?
