Superhub speed issues?

Hi all,

Had the superhub fitted yesterday, as I was upgrading to the VIP package, so my broadband speed should be 100mb, but the fastest I seem to be able to get is 30mb, the average being 25mb. The tests I have done so far have been wireless, will doing a wired speedtest make much difference or shoudl I expect to get the full speed wirelessly?

am in M32, manchester if that makes any difference.

always test your max speed via wired.

You should expect full speed wirelessly only if your wireless isn't crap.

Even if the pc/laptop is 'g' wireless?

Join the club, that's about the same as Ive been getting ever since we had this so called "super-hub" installed

Its been really disappointing, especially after all the hype they were advertising on TV.

'g' is crap

Unless in context of a 'g' spot (not of the hot-spot variety) then it's a different matter.

Yes, you should be able to achieve the max speed of the 'g' device, provided the Superhub is set to 2.5Ghz

Why the difference? Is one more reliable than the other?

Is there any way I can boost my wireless speeds?

right, i now regualrly getting 80+ wired on speedtest.net too, which obviously I am happy with.

However, I am still struggling to get anything over 40 wireless, is there any chance I could ever get a similar wired and wireless speed using the superhub?

The maximum speed you will get, is equal to the slowest connection in the route. Since the two are not housed on the same server, they will be taking different routes. One of the two obviously has a bottleneck.

Wireless is somewhat of an art form, and subject to many variables. Not least of which is your location in respect to the AP, the type of walls between you and it, the thickness, etc.

One thing I would suggest to try firstly, is to turn off auto-detection of b, g, n wireless on the router, and set it to n. Some routers sometimes autonegotiate to g even if they find a good 'n' connection.
