No download?
Just switched on computer after being out all day.
Found download at 25% of normal, STM in operation??
How/why as nothing used.
House been empty, any suggestions?

I am a on samknows monitoring team, the graph from 3.00pm dropped like a brick.
This was visible at 9.00pm when I checked, still on at 10.00pm.
Download bottomed out at 2.18Mb, till 11.00 when back up 9.9Mb?
Just gave up in the end.

Out of interest, what was you trying to download? Stm aside, they throttle p2p traffic during peak time which would account for that window. If not, your graph proves VM is up to something other that stm and I would send a letter to the CEOs office if i was you complaining because I want to know what is going on. You havent triggered stm, and even if you had, it is for 5 hours so if it dropped at 15:00 which is when evening stm starts then it should have come back at 2000. Stm is in effect earlier on in the day as well although you are allowed to download more. But again, there is a 5 hour window so it should have come back early evening.

Started dropping at 3.00pm and bottomed out at 4.00pm, Stm for 5hrs then started to climb back up till 11.00pm. (according to graph)
Trying to surf at the time I found low speed, tried coming here/ other websites but like treacle. lol

STM does not "start dropping". It's instant on, instant off, your speed will switch immediately in one second.
If it drops and climbs over an hour, it's congestion not STM.

Thanks for the explanation, managed to speak to my shift working neighbour who confirms that he had problems the same time period.
The jury is now out determining who is responsible for the probs.
(Most of the Virgin downloaders are known to us in the area)

it doesnt have to be one or two people hammering the connection. If you are in a built up area it can be tonnes of people all going online at the same time as they get in from school and work
