DAWN DELIVERS IN DEWHURST

Trainer Jim Bolger won the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket for an incredible fifth time in seven years with Dawn Approach.

Now unbeaten in six starts as a juvenile, Bolger's youngster was sent off the 30-100 market leader and heads into winter quarters as a red-hot favourite for the 2000 Guineas.

Kevin Manning had to ask the Godolphin-owned chestnut a few questions going into the Dip, but he gradually clawed back front-running stablemate Leitir Mor and forged clear to win by two and three-quarter lengths. Aidan O'Brien's George Vancouver stayed on for third to make it an Irish clean sweep.

SLEEK LEATHER POCKETS AUTUMN

Trading Leather gave trainer Jim Bolger a double on Future Champions Day with a gutsy display in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket.

Kevin Manning settled in second and attempted to get first run on the other big guns, but it took him a long time to get past Glory Awaits, and in the meantime Richard Hughes looked ever so confident on Montiridge, even taking a pull before narrowly hitting the front inside the final furlong.

But Trading Leather showed great determination to battle back and won going away by three-quarters of a length from his fellow 5-2 joint-favourite, with Eye Of The Storm third.

DEADLY AAIM RECLAIMS CESAREWITCH

Aaim To Prosper created history by becoming the first horse to win the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket for a second time.

The Brian Meehan-trained eight-year-old (66-1) has not been victorious since he struck in this race in 2010, but cashed in courtesy of a never-say-die ride by Kieren Fallon.

The favourite Countrywide Flame looked like collaring Aaim To Prosper, but Meehan's charge was not for passing and held on by half a length. Tominator, having his first start for Jonjo O'Neill, also briefly threatened, but crossed the line in third, with Sir Mark Prescott's Motivado fourth.

Aaim To Prosper drifted off the rail into the path of Countrywide Flame, but the runner-up was not making any ground at the line.

JUDGE RULES SUPREME IN ROCKFEL

Trainer Charlie Hills has a genuine Classic contender on his hands after Just The Judge maintained her unbeaten record in the Vision.ae Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket.

Winner of the Washington Singer at Newbury last time out, she was in the perfect position throughout under Michael Hills, and quickened up nicely.

Nargys met plenty of trouble in behind and when Kieren Fallon eventually extricated her from a pocket, she fairly flew home. But it was all too late as Just The Judge (6-1) had flown, and she crossed the line a length and three-quarters in front of Nargys, with Godolphin's Desert Blossom in third.

He took part in a public gallop last week and looked stunning when pulling 15 lengths clear of his stablemate Midsummer Sun.

Richard Hughes virtually confirmed his status as new champion jockey as he rode the first five winners at Windsor on Monday.

He began with a double for his father-in-law Richard Hannon. Pivotal Movement (13-8 joint-favourite) won the EBF Joe Ward Hill Memorial Maiden Stakes, after which East Texas Red (5-2 favourite) claimed the davisbakerycaribbean.com Nursery. Hughes then donned the famous Khalid Abdullah silks for Amanda Perrett's Embankment (7-1) in the Ladbrokes Game On! Maiden Stakes.

The most impressive winner, though, was the Jeremy Gask-trained Magic Street (4-1 favourite), who streaked to a five-length win in division one of the Ladbrokes Mobile Handicap.

HILLS HAILS RETIRING BROTHER

Charlie Hills has had no thoughts as yet about a new stable jockey after his brother Michael announced he will retire at the end of the current campaign.

The 49-year-old has ridden over 2,000 winners and signs off just months after his twin brother Richard decided the time was right to call it quits.

Hills won the 1996 Derby on the William Haggas-trained Shaamit and was champion apprentice in 1983. Among the best horses he rode were Royal Applause, trained by his father Barry, and Pentire, who won the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Irish Champion Stakes.

Man-of-the-moment Richard Hughes continued his amazing run of success by winning three races at Leicester on Van Der Neer, Tunnager Grove and Guiletta.

Having won seven of eight races at Windsor on Monday, Hughes arrived at the Midlands track full of confidence and covered up the 2-1 second favourite Van Der Neer before unleashing him with a furlong to run in the Wymeswold Conditions Stakes.
