Broadband using v+ set top box
we currently get our broadband from the telewest set top box which offers us just 1MB for £17.99 a month.
do the new V+ box offer fast speeds ?

The V+HD box does not support broadband at all so you would have to get a SACM fitted.

A Stand Alone Cable Modem. You could either get one installed or pay extra to keep your STB as well.
A SACM is recommended as it is more reliable and the speeds are greater anyway.

When I ordered the V+ CS arranged for an engineer to come the day before the V+ install and he set up a separate modem which he located next to the old STB. I understand that the modem they now install should deal with the proposed increase to 20mb.
The lowest BB is size M (2mb) which went up 1p to £18.00

If you are "technically capable" they will send a SACM through the post (they did for me).
They will then mess up your bill

the set top box we use is upstairs in my brothers room (parent's don't want the mess downstairs)
in my brothers room is the white box where the cable comes in from, then another cable to the back of the set top box.could virgin set this up to run 2MB+ ?

No the STB is not capable of anything over 2MB.
