Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Well, this research has taken me places I never thought I would go. So far, I have found out there is German Jewish blood in the family and plenty of relations in Yorkshire, a county I have no time for as a Lancastrian by birth. Hoping to Hell I don't find I am related to a former politician or even PM.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Researching Scottish ancestors can be a cakewalk to a certain point as the actual vital record certificates are all available online. No messing about applying for certificates from GRO/GRONI or even worse the Irish GRO in Roscommon who still seem to be stuck in the 1980s.

Its a awful illness, one thing you can try is music/films/TV from her past, even food & sweets, may help trigger memories.

There is some Scottish blood way back in the family, I think it is around the 1700's though. There is also Viking blood in the family, Irish blood and apparently VERY diluted French blood as well. Let's face it, if I was a dog I would be a damn mongrel.

She loves music and will happily sing along to old songs as she still remembers the words. Also loves the film Mamma Mia due to the ABBA music.
Started now to dance in a child like way whenever she hears any music at all, lol. So cute sometimes.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
We had the sunniest winter on record so I don't think there was any lack of blue sky.
Or maybe its just very dull in Stevenage?

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
We have had a couple of clear days, unfortunately still freezing cold. I was able to go out shopping without wearing a coat today for the first time since last October.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
I managed to see my GP today. Yay, it was extremely hard to get an appointment mind you. Initially I was told there wasn't any for at least a month.
Then they looked at my records lol
And I got seen in two hours.
