Facebook Test Pay to Promote Post
Thin end of the wedge?

Most interesting part of this is why they demo most of their new features in New Zealand. Apparently amongst their social graph New Zealand users are poorly inter-connected with people from elsewhere in the globe and not as populated as America. So they can test things there with minimal disruption for others.

Once they get the taste for charging you there will be no end to it. Oh well thankfully i can use other methods for contacting people.

They will kill FB is they start chargingfor memeberships but atleast with this news its just a option if the user chooses, if they charge for FB I would just leave don't use it that much anyways.

Facebook will never charge its members.
It may offer pay services as it is doing with this highlighted posts idea but it will never charge users for use of the site.
It would lose too many members.

I can't see them charging to use facebook, it would be like commercial suicide but then companies have been known to do some pretty stupid things.

I can see companies and business especially small ones using the pay for page as a means of advertising.
Everyone else would desert in droves and go to another social network.
So I can see a model where there will be a free bug ridden version and a paid for account version which is bug free.Just as we have with Spotify and other networking pages with free and paid accounts.

I only use facebook for keeping in touch with 2 groups i am a member of, one is my regimental group https://www.facebook.com/groups/6764007875/ and the other is the chieftain tank appreciation society https://www.facebook.com/groups/tankie/ other than that i tend not to post on it at all

Not that I care, but...
Is there advertising currently on Facebook? Because you can bet there will be if there isn't already, once this comes in...which it will, as there's money in it. 
Aren't we drowning enough in advertising already? Why encourage them?

I block as much as i can by using firefox and Ad Block Plus It removes ads from most sites and forums
