T-Mobile allow people to use a different network on their iPhones in Germany, think o2 will allow that any time soon?

Re: iPhone UK Release info
Seems there haven't been quite as many activations as expected. 26,000 in the first two weeks as opposed to 100,000 in the first weekend..
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11...e_activations/
That's not to say the iPhone has failed. It's possible a lot of iPhones are christmas (or birthday) presents, so wouldn't have been activated yet. Similarly, those who bought an iPhone and unlocked it won't necessarily need to activate it either.

Re: iPhone UK Release info
Basic £35 tariff on iphone moves from 200min/200text to 600min/500text from mid march.
Other tariffs see price cuts / increases in minutes and texts.

They have released their new Q1 Tariffs and I think (from what I recall) data use means unlimited, new selection of inclusive allowance and some new bolt ons.
Just to further point out that some of that info in the BBC article is incorrect. As stated above sales were actually slower than expected. Glasgow CS was going to be nothing but iPhone and a BB contact centre (total of 1500 people). This has since changed and now there are only going to be 2 iPhone specialist teams based in Glasgow (each with around 15 people per team). Also, iPhone enquiries were not as busy as expected to be after launch. I only dealt with about 5 - 7 iPhone queries each day.

Not as much of an advantage as it may seem:

The only niggle is that the downloads will only be accessible through Wi-Fi, not EDGE networks.

As with one of the comments on that post, I personally find that generally, if I am near enough a WiFi network, I'm probably near a PC or Mac (in which case it would be better on a larger screen).
Still, it *is* good that the BBC is looking at other outlets.

Re: iPhone Tips (was UK Release info)
I doubt the option to use edge would have been of any use. It would have been far too slow and hammer your data usage. Also, iplayer is p2p, and I don't think phone data is designed for uploading. Plus the iPhone has free access to The Cloud, so you get a fair few hotspots to use.
Also, from Apple's point of view, its dead easy as they can release one update and do iphone and ipod touches together.

If Iplayer is derived from the web based version (and I believe it is), it isn't P2P.
