Ross SL30/12 and easy find dish help

Ive just bought one of these to use at the motorhome and ws reading through the manual about the different pre programed satellites on it and it also says that other ones can be programed in but i was just wondering how would you do that? The easy find bar's on the info screen only show up for the pre programed ones so would you have to use a sat meter on the dish to find the other satellites? and then just do a channel scan?

Cheers
