Not in VM's commercial interest to be open about upgrade dates. They won't want customers to know the upgrade might be a year away, or they might disappear to competitors. Best to keep them hanging on in the hope it might be next week. I'm betting it'll be towards the end of all these periods.

Re: Areas already upgraded (2012 double speed upgrades)
That's exactly how they tricked me into staying for 15 extra months. In the end the upgrade came 3 months after their last estimated date passed and they stopped providing them.

I would like to know how much overlap there is between BT's FTTC roll out and VM's existing cable networks. BT have avoided my area so far. I wonder how much real competition there is in VM's established areas.

Re: Areas already upgraded (2012 double speed upgrades)
I would have expected a fair amount of overlap as both companies will have chosen/will be choosing areas where they expect a commercial return and I'd expect both companies to make similar evaluations of the areas concerned. There may be a bit of bias introduced by government handouts but I think they are mostly aimed at rural areas which is still going to be a small proportion of total rollout.

FTTC was different to traditional rollouts. It seemed to concentrate on small towns and larger villages before city areas, and then some random middle of the nowhere places got randomly picked as well I think for PR reasons. The pattern I seen with FTTC if any pattern at all is wealthy areas rather than population density.

So in answer to MR K's point, that it is not commercially viable for VM to give out detailed roll out info for fear of scaring customers off, I would suggest that VM cable customers are unlikely to be scared off by being late in the roll out schedule except in those limited areas in which they compete with other FTFC providers.
Coventry is scheduled for July onwards, presumably before those scheduled for October onwards. If our upgrade is put off and I wanted to change from VM I would have to go back to crappy copper and even crappier BTVision! Not a chance.
