Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)

When I left virgin for sky about 5 or 6 yrs ago a virgin media engineer called to collect the equipment but I guess things have changed since then? I wouldn't have a problem with taking the equipment to a nearby colection point as it would be more convienent I feel

Sorry but what on earth are you implying by saying just as well I don't for for them anymore?

No they don't have make any sort of adjustment for you to return their property. I hope they charge you as your attitude socks.

Your Intervention? Hahaha
You come across as having nothing but contempt for customers who essentially put a roof over your head for ten years.

Every customer is important.

They agreed to what I said about returning the equipment, so this should not be a problem.

If my conversation last Sunday night leads to a correction of the situation, it won't be a problem as I may well decide to rescind my notice to cancel.

Otherwise, if they try to charge me for the equipment, it will make for a very interesting court case.

Apologies, I felt obliged to respond to Stephens interjections.

Yes, it can be much more convenient for able bodied people as they don't have to wait in at home.

Yes as you don't need to wait home for the engineer. You just take it along when you can.

No expert but I'd say time and money were the main factors in changing the process, making it cheaper.

I don't think the V6 seems like a big change really. Sky+ to Sky Q is a big change but this is just the same with a tiny couple of extras.

Well good thing I worked in the business side to the company then if you think that. I hold no contempt for any customers but feel that your demanding the bend to your demands is a bit much.

I'm still interested to know about any streaming capabilities that the new box has.

As am I and VM said that their "new" tv service would be cloud based. Seems to have gone all quiet on that.... so I guess there's still details we're waiting on.

If the new box has streaming capabilities, I guess this makes the concept of Multi Room Streaming and extra boxes all but redundant!

Good point. After all, the interview in the Telegraph back in April did state "At the turn of the year it will launch a new set-top box to rival Sky Q, with ultra-high-definition pictures and a similar ability to sling programmes to tablets and smartphones around the home."
VM would have fact-checked this as it centred around an interview with David Bouchier, VM's chief digital entertainment officer

Could you please clarify whether the home screen is picture based, like Sky, or whether it is text?

I imagine it looks exactly the same as the current TiVo menus.

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)

I think people expecting a total overhaul are going to be rather gutted. It is simply a new smaller faster STB running the same software with a few added extras like built in WiFi, a bluetooth remote and possible streaming to tablets.

It still sounds like it can't compete with Sky Q at all in terms of features. ie the WiFi boosting of all boxes and built in powerline. Soon to be enabled voice searching as well. Also its still only 1Tb which says to me 4K will be limited to On demand and Netflix/YouTube.
