Slow Speeds Again.

Hi, iv been expeirencing slow speed since last week, im on the Telewest 10MB service and i have been no where near recieving my full speed. my usual is around 2mb. My wired computer downstairs recieves a full 10mb but when i go to my wireless computer it recieves 2mb. It used to recieve 10mb but since last week has gone slow. Anyone got any ideas.

Re: Slow Speeds Again.

It should be in networking... moved.

Try changing the channel you are using on the wireless router- there may be something that is causing interference hence the reduced speed over the wireless connection.

Re: Slow Speeds Again.

If you are receiving full speeds on your wired pc then the problem lies in your wireless network.

How good is the signal strength?
What make and model of router/ card are you using?
Any other pcs connecting wireless?
Any wireless security enabled?

Re: Slow Speeds Again.

I have the same problem

When I connect via the Cable Modem I get 1MB/s
When I connect wirelessly I get 200-500 KB/s

But when I was on the 2 MB package I got 240KB/s

So when I was on 2M I was getting the full 2M speed, wired and wirelessly and now I'm back on 10M and my wireless is not giving me the full speed.

I have Linksys WRT54GS and card is WMP54GS

Re: Slow Speeds Again.

Your laptop may not be able to take the load. I had a laptop that when placed under heavy cpu load was unable to keep up network transfer rates. [EDIT: Then I installed l.n.x and all was sweet Ahhhh but thats another story

Can you transfer files from your PC to your laptop at 10mbps when the laptop is idle (ie no other processes running) ?
