Question Battery powered lawnmower

I'm thinking of ditching my 20 year old Flymo and replacing it with a compact lightweight battery powered lawnmower with wheels either this year or next.

Does anyone have any recommendations, I have a small garden but still want one with a good capacity battery?

Re: Battery powered lawnmower

I have the worx and it is brilliant. It come with a strimmer and it is the best strimmer I ever had. I have a lot of worx stuff and use them quite often

this is the one I have https://www.amazon.co.uk/WORX-WG927E...1c1f06c86&th=1

They do a 40 volt version but for a small garden you do not need it tbh

Cheers I'll add it to a list, I would have to buy without the trimmer though as I've recently bought 1.

How long does a single charge last and how long to recharge?

It comes with 2 batteries which it uses ( I forgot it is 40 volt too) and a fast charger so not very long to charge at all

Reading reviews people say the battery is weak, so may be looking for something with more battery power as my garden maybe small but maybe still too big for 1 charge, I don't know the dimensions of the garden.

But it's on the list.

https://www.gardenersworld.com/revie...s-lawn-mowers/ this has a review of the latest . The Einhell Power X-Change does well for a cheaper model on its own

Re: Battery powered lawnmower

Yes that's the site I've also looked at and was also considering einhell.

Anyway thanks for all the help the purchase of something isn't imminent unless there is a really good off season sale.

I use a 40V 45cm 3 in 1 brushless Greenworks Mower. With one 40v 4ah battery I can cut both the front and rear lawns then put the battery in to a 40v brush cutter I have to do the edging. I do tend to have to use a second battery to complete the first cut of the year though. The longer the grass, the less you will get cut on a single charge, so with battery, it is a good idea to cut regular and not let the garden grow too long, whatever brand you go for.

Re: Battery powered lawnmower

Sorry to be that guy but having looked at the pros and cons of battery mowers (and having owned a couple of battery strimmers) I don’t think they’re worth paying more than double what you pay for a simple corded mower. A corded mower is more powerful, lighter, and goes for as long as you need it to at a moment’s notice. Pick the right one and it is also less than half the price. I bought a Mac Allister last year which does me just fine. There are various brands available all doing the same thing, wheeled with rotary blades and a grass box. Just go for whichever one is on promotion at B&Q and it’ll set you back under £100.

TBH if access to power, or difficulty working round a cord, was a problem for me I’d still choose a petrol mower before a battery one. If for any reason you let your lawn get out of control (a very wet spring, for example, or superb growing conditions while you’re on your summer holiday), a battery mower can easily become a chore.

Re: Battery powered lawnmower

You may not think so, many do.

My wife certainly loves the fact that you dont have to mess about with cords - flipping them out of the way all the time (our garden is also long, so extensions needed as well). Plus in 10 years she managed to run over the cord at least twice.

She now has a cordless, so its just get it out, mow the lawn, put it away, no messing.
She charges the battery afterwards, ready for next time (she has two batteries, so they get rotated).

That is my plan too, hopefully it'll mean I spend a lot less time in the garden, what I need next is someone to invent a cordless robotic weeder!
