Angry TiVO Start-up Problem

New to Virgin. Cannot get my TiVO box to start; I have to switch everything off at the mains and back-on again. It then takes many minutes for the whole start-up process to run through - very frustrating! Virgin say I should ensure I am plugged into HDMI 1 (which I am) and to retune my TV (which I have done - a Panasonic Viera capable TV - only a few years old). Virgin admit that TiVO "works well with most TV's"! Most? Why not all?

Anyone else experienced similar problems please!

Re: TiVO Start-up Problem

At what point is it stopping? When was it installed and has it ever worked?

The box does take about 7 or 8 minutes to warm up - are you waiting long enough? What happens when it fails, or does it just continue to display the message '...Just a few more minutes'?

If you cannot get it to work, you will need an engineer to sort it out, I think. If you phone them now, you might just be able to get one booked for the weekend.

Re: TiVO Start-up Problem

Thanks to Spiderman and Old Boy. For Spiderman - I was not at home when the Engineer installed the system; I was presented with a system that was running on return from work (my son was present during installation). It was only the next day when we tried to switch on the system that the fault manifested itself. It has never worked properly; we always have to try and switch on normally, we then get a No Signal alert followed by nothing. We switch everything off at the mains and then back on again which prompts the whole set-up phase which, as was stated, can and does take many minutes!

However, good news from Virgin, they have now agreed to send around an Engineer to look at the problem.

I will post a note updating if successful or what the probelem is if not.
