You have a DNS problem. VM seem to be having some issues with their DNS servers lately.

Add a secondary/backup DNS server and you should be fine. Google's works well and is easy to remember (but some people disagree with their data protection policies)

It is a routing issue that can be rectified very easily as in changing the proxy in your browser or the DNS servers as above.

so who is to blame , VM ,bbc or my laptop and pc ???.

if i cant still access this site tommorow will report fault to 150(will not hold my breath)

or you could just follow some of the advice you've been given re changing proxy/dns Server.....

Followed given instructions from yesterday on how to change proxy/dns server, and the BBC site which was playing up is now fine. I didn't tick the box to use it for all protocols - should I have? I just put it in the http proxy box. (Firefox)

BBC only really provides HTTP services anyway, so you should be fine.

bbc.co.uk unavailable for me here in St Albans this evening. Works fine if I switch to my Vodafone dongle, so it's definitely a VM problem.
