None of those shows can really boast great viewing figures given that they're carried on a channel available to approaching 10 million viewers, but then viewing figures really aren't a measure of quality. Eastenders, Corrie and x factor are proof of that, in my opinion. What these shows do tell us are that there are people still willing to make quality TV for a small but discerning group of viewers, still more concerned with the artistic process than the commercial outcome, and that has to be encouraging, even if like me with these specific shows you don't particularly enjoy the artistic outcome either. That said, I think that potentially Mad Men is just a bad fit with Sky and was better off where it was.

All Sky need now is a way to get there TV to customers without the need for a dish, I would have Sky for TV and phone then and VM for BB.

Carl they do not need our help to achieve that. Doing very nicely on their own

They will be doing that when they launch Now TV. Sky hve said that is the reason behind it.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
So Now TV sounds like it will be subscription based on demand TV over the Internet for specific programmes e.g. Game of Thrones, without having a channel subscription wither with VM, Sky, etc.
I guess Sky will keep this unique by only offering OD programmes like Game of Thrones through this route and not Sky Anywhere, so VM customers cannot see anything while we do not have Sky Atlantic?
However it will also open up content subcription for consumers who do not have a TV package service today so can see why they are doing it.
Another Tivo app on top of Netflix/Lovefilm if they finally arrive???!!!
The unique value of Tivo then should be to search and do wishlists through any source, I remember seeing a demo of Tivo Premiere is the USA where they said they search all sources, so search for a film across cable TV channels, Netflix and Lovefilms. That is where Tivo needs to go in the UK but getting off topic for this thread.

I'm so disappointed with the lack of quality apps on TiVo. TiVo launched well over a year ago now, and it's a premium product, yet most Smart TV's have much more to offer.
Cindy Rose, Virgin Media’s director of digital entertainment, explained while talking to PaidContent:UK in December 2010 that:
We’re launching with a handful (of apps); within 12 months, we’ll have hundreds. We needed to start with the household names.
That was 16 months ago!
Virgin really need to wake up or they run the potential risk of falling behind their competitors:

Fair enough, but personally I couldn't care less. But then I don't care for paid-for content either and am happy just to have whatever I can get on my TV, which Tivo does brilliantly.

Can't argue with you on that Carl. Personally I want access to as much content through my TV as possible. I too am not exactly a big fan of paid-for content but will pay extra to watch content that I enjoy.
