Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Going over to Brighton later for a client meeting. It's a lovely sunny day so I'll walk from Brighton station to the clients (The Hyde business park). It's via the hilltop where Brighton Racecourse is. Stupendous views from up there.
Mind you the yomp up Elm Grove and Warren Road is not for the unfit. Likewise the 300 (I'm told) steps on the path up from the clients.
There is a handy pub called "The fox on the downs" on the way.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Been to the GP this morning, as I had stopped my insulin last year as it was making me ill. I was feeling great until the last month, when I got high readings. GP praised me for going back and admitting that I was struggling and gave me a different insulin to try instead. To tell you how bad I was getting, I was having a drink then 2 minutes later wanting another drink.

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to drop in for a pint. Took some nice pictures on the mobile. Will post them tomorrow when I can re-size them on the desktop to stop breaking the forum pages. The 300 steps going up from the clients place were hard though. Wish I was a few years younger.
Beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky, with just enough breeze to stop it getting too hot.
Good meeting with the clients, a couple of the German engineers had flown in from Kassel to attend.
Plenty of work coming my way for the rest of the year.

As for me, well I had a great chat with Osem Jnr. and told him how much I treasure him. I couldn't wish for a better son and just want him to know he can talk to me about anything - if he's stressed, hurt, fed up or whatever. I can't guarantee not to say 'I told you so' but I'll remind him gently and will always love and support him no matter what.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Here's a couple of pictures of the 300 steps, first from the bottom and second from the top. It's much steeper in fact than the pictures show and I needed two long breathers on the way up.

Views from the top are majestic as it's almost the highest part of the hill above the racecourse.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Started my new insulin today, and not sure if just pyschological, but certainly didn't feel as thirsty as I had been. Only thing is, forgot my Metformin so need to take a double dose at lunch, or skip one today. I'm prescribed 2 twice a day, but taking 2 in the morning was making me ill so they said one in the morning, 1 at lunch and then 2 with the evening meal which is my main meal.

Mark, why don't you set alarms on your phone, in case you forget sometimes...

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Got into a routine now, and already seeing rewards. On Thursday night, my sugar was 22.9, a reading last night shows it is now down to 17.3; which I know is still high but with a bit of tweaking to find the right amount of insulin for morning and evening, I'm hoping this means I can get my sugar levels down more.
On a side note, booked my train tickets to Portsmouth this evening. Going on the 30th, getting the 09:00 train from Waterloo which gets there at 10:33 and getting the 14:15 back which gets into London at 15:51. Hoping I can miss the bulk of the rush hour by doing that.
