2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
I am sure I read somewhere that all packages are getting a price increase but also speeds were getting upgraded again for free. Am sure it was on the price increase letter i received too but unfortuntely have thrown it away.
I am sure my 70mb will be upgraded free to the 100mb speed,
did I imagine all that or is the speed upgrade true?, if its true have anyone got a link for that or a scan of the letter that said that.

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
I thought the minimum speed was now 100? I have not heard about any speed increase.

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
Same, not seen anything but if there is, hopefully the focus is on the upload speeds. Whilst more download speed is nice, 300/350Mb is plenty for most people I would of thought?

There are always ongoing speed upgrades, but it takes that long for them to roll out that an announcement can still be "in progress" months later. There's even been times when another speed bump has been announced before some got their last bump.
Without linking to anything, it's hard to say what it is you've read and what you remember. Did you see something about speed boosts? Probably. Does it apply to you? Who knows, you're best speaking to Virgin about that. 70Mbit was a weird one, you couldn't buy it, some customers just got the boost to it. However I'd wager you're out of contract so if you want more speed, give them a ring and speak to them. I'm sure they'll do you a deal with a speed bump to 100 or 200mbit.

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
i have spoken to them but they have no idea about speeds or anything, they say the minimum speed is 50mb not 100mg yet website says 100mb is min.
the price increase letter did say good news although price may increase we will be upgrading all customers speed and it listed the speeds and theire new speeds. it was jujst a standard letter with price increase not specific top pwerson except the extra 1.99 they charging me

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
Website clearly offers 50Mbps so I don't know why you think 100Mbps is the minimum?

That's standalone only. All bundles are 100Mbps at least.

The broadband speed 'boost' was in one of the red boxes on the price increase letter, Sept 2017.

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
No speed upgrade was offered on my price increase letter. Perhaps because I'm on 50Mbps and phone, but no TV bundle.

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
I got upgraded without asking from 70 to 100 several months ago. I thought all long term customers were now on at least 100. I think 50 has been reintroduced recently at a bargain price. You must have a minimum of 100 for a V6 box.

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
I don't think it is a new thing, I think some customers will have already had it and not noticed. As an example, the top tier being advertised is 300mbits (or was) and many of us were upgraded to 350mbits long before the VIP package changed to indicate it was the new top speed.

Re: 2017/18 Speed Upgrade?
I saw a post on twitter a few days back where someone had posted a speedtest showing 270 down and 10 up, can't for the life of me find it again now though.
I'm aware these things can be faked / incorrect due to security software etc

250 used to be a tier and maybe still is so that looks normal, atleast for the download.
