Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
From reading that review, you cannot use the iPad or iPhone without being in the same house? As in you are unable to stream for example at work?

The TV Anywhere side works like Sky Go doesn't it meaning you can watch content from the set channels wherever you have an Internet connection.

That's how I read it, but not outside the UK.

Just to clarify, when you start up the application and you're not on your home network (say you're at your mate's house on his wifi or using 3G) then the application logs in as "Away Mode", but you still get pretty much the same user interface experience.
You can go through the guide, set up recordings, manage My Shows, series links, planned recordings, delete stuff, browse collections, stream channels (wifi only?) etc. What you can't do is use the remote control feature of the app.
It's pretty handy to be out an about and get your iPhone out to quickly set up a series link, or delete some programme that you didn't want the wife to know you'd recorded (er... allegedly).

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
Hopefully they'll soon update the App to work over 3G rather than just WiFi But then just to use the App would be rather nice

Re: Virgin Media TiVo iPad app
Can anyone confirm if the app (or the website for that matter) supports more than 1 TiVO box?
For example when managing series links or recordings does the app allow the user to pick what TiVO box they want to manage?

And with 4G just round the corner I would hope it's planned to stream from a non Wi-Fi connection.

I think the WIFI only thing is to make it easier to get past Apple.

Yes you can pick/switch between all the boxes you have in the app, at home and away mode. (if you look in the screen shots you will see a drop-down in the top left)

Thanks,
I saw the drop down but wanted to check that it was there to support selecting a specific box.

So does this mean our Tivos are effectively backed up for our series links and whishlists etc., so that if we have to have a new box, Series link and whishlist information can be downloaded to the new box? What is the the ipad connection path to enable these things to be edited on our personal Tivos?

Don't think you could do that, as the master information for your series links and wishlists is on each TiVo. The VM app just interacts with your chosen TiVo box. Does that make sense?

Another point on Away Access, you might think it'd be slow interacting with your TiVo over wifi, internet and then cable into your TiVo, but it's not. I'm using mine at work now and it's as fast as if I were at home.

Does the website have the same performance when interacting with the TiVO?
Also (this is a question for any of the testers) do you know we will get clash warnings when setting recordings?
Thanks.

I haven't used the website for streaming, but I've used the VM guide website that lets you browse the channels and set series links. Not sure if you can directly control your TiVo from the TV Anywhere website.

Yes makes sense. It's a shame because a backup for whishlists and series links is a priority in my view.
Maybe each tivo should have some space allocated on VM's servers to back this information up, as the ipad app shows that the information can be easily accessed. I'm not sure how practical that is though.
