Re: Changing Package Online?

Emailed customer support asking why I was quoted £45 a month for 100Mb BB when others have been offered it for £34.50. This is the reply....

"We’re happy to hear that you are interested in upgrading and are pleased
to provide you with the necessary information.

Just to let you know the monthly service charge for 100 mb package is
£55.00 and from 1st of April 2012 will be reduced to £47.25 which will
be the same as the 50 mb Broadband package.

We've checked your account and can confirm that you've subscribed to
Broadband size XL (30 mb) and your monthly service charge is £28.50.

We would like to inform you that if you upgrade your Broadband package
to 100 mb then the monthly service charge will increase to £34.75 with
an installation charge of £49.95."

Has the 50Mb ever been £47.25 (without phone line?)

Re: Changing Package Online?

It is before any usual adjustments - so the £55/£47.25 isn't anything that should have ever been charged. For instance with the standalone packages there is £10 adjustment

Just for clarification is the 100Mb for £34.75 (no phone line) the price after 1st April when prices are due to rise? And does an engineer have to visit or is it simply a new config file?

Re: Changing Package Online?

Any prices quoted since Feb have been the post-April one. I think it'll just be a config file change - unless the system advises that network adjustments have to be made.

Re: Changing Package Online?

Well I upgraded to 100Mb for a £34.75, only trouble is I'm only getting anywhere from 45Mb to 70Mb.

Downloading on 8 channels, power levels look good. Using ethernet, any ideas?

Could be congestion/oversubscribed (run one of these http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/monitors.html to see)

Could be your network can't handle the speed (should be using Cat5e and a router and network capable of gigabit ethernet. If you have the superhub then that does support it but your PC might not)

Thanks.

Seems to have settled down this morning. I always use ethernet, and was aware my aware my old laptop network adapter could be holding holding me back, but I'm now getting 95 to 101Mb. Very good for £34.75, my XL package was going up to 30 quid a month anyway.
