Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

It's only a few bug fixes. You are unlikely to notice any difference.

There will be at least one more update in the pilot regions before we're ready to roll out nationally.

Is Stafford in this pilot? Since the update the bid has been really slow.

Yes, Stafford was included in the first pilot download. If you reboot, it might update to the latest version.

Yes it updated. Hope it helps with the speed issues. Is that one of the fixes?

Not specifically, but I have seen reports that the current build is faster.

You could also try this:

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

In the early hours of Friday and Saturday morning at about 2am my box rebooted itself, but didn't say that it had downloaded anything. Was this down to VM engineering work?

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

Ok, thanks. This morning it was 1:56 to be exact- thankfully it was recording a commercial channel and only chopped off the adverts.

It would be better if it was done between 4 and 6am as this is the time when less people watch television than at any other time.

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

It is reported on another forum, you can no longer have more than one series link for one program on different channels. Says they are changed into all channel links. This is a problem for me as I don't want all the old repeats from channels other than the one or two I specify. Can someone confirm? Setting New Only doesn't usually work for me but that isn't what I wanted anyway as it might be a series I want that can be on two channels but not new but I don't want all the old episodes on channels that keep getting repeated every few weeks. Sometimes with wishlists the same program is recorded over and over several times a week so I don't want series links to record these. Why can I not just record on channels I want it too, like now? Even on BBC Tivo sometimes tries to record from all the regional variants at the same time!!

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

You have more customisation options as part of the new Series Link that'll minimise the likelihood of recording episodes you don't want.

Also the existing TiVo logic still applies - if it's recorded one episode recently it won't record it from another channel.

As I pointed out, that does not work now with wishlists when episode information is missing, so what additional customization is going work when series links include all channels?

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

With the new software, series links can either be set on a single channel or all. You can also choose which series to start from. And the "Record in HD" setting now has Always/If possible/Never choices.

That is what is being said. It is a step backwards because you cannot choose which channels you want to record from anymore, only one or all so you can no longer exclude channels with no series information and constant repeats.

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.

Many problems with TiVo would be rectified if they increased the quality of the EPG metadata.
