I bought a TP-Link 8 Port Gigabit Desktop Switch. So I could convert my 4 wifi devices into wired.
5 port was £30, 8 port was £25.

Let us know how you get on with it. We have the same problem with cats and would like a good solution as the country* one isn't really on in a built up area. Spike boards are moderately effective but a bit ugly.
*Double barrelled 12 bore.
