Yes its taking a lot out of the game IMO Dave with overzealous refs just raring to get out their cards.

Man City will win the title as Man Utd show their title limitations today.

Re: Season 2017/2018
Apart from the first goal it was a very disjointed display today. Worth the entry fee to see that goal though, and although he missed a sitter the Belgian swallow scores his 7th in seven. 😉

Re: Season 2017/2018
We weren't great for over half of the match but we'd have drawn that 0-0 last season. I'm not going to complain if we play badly and still win like that.
Everton are going to end up in a relegation battle if they don't sort out their striker situation. £150m spent and they didn't replace Lukaku, January is going to be an expensive month for them.

Re: Season 2017/2018
I'm going to hold off until at least Christmas before being certain of this but it does feel like the fear factor is returning to United. Certainly there is an air of confidence around the place that LVG could never create and Moyes had never heard of.
Wasn't impressed with Lukaku's celebration though, pretty certain Rooney wouldn't have been so disrespectful.
Speaking of Rooney, again it seems United play better without him on the team....

Re: Season 2017/2018
Hmm, I heard one wag say that United were a much better team without Rooney on the pitch, harsh but probably true.
TBH I much prefer to see a striker celebrate his goals, can't do with this mock modesty all the time.
A swift edit there Russ, in fact United are the only Premiership team that Rooney has not scored against.

The Everton fans were booing him just before he scored so i don't really see it as disrespectful.

Well lets see how he gets on against the much more sterner defences.

l don't mind players celebrating but some sometimes go over that fine line.

Personally l don't like supporters booing former players as it smacks of childish insularity IMO.

Re: Season 2017/2018
Lukaku's celebration today was not in the Addebayor class from a few years back.
---------- Post added at 20:16 ---------- Previous post was at 19:55 ----------
And I can remember seeing Rooney give the Everton fans the cupped ear on more than one occasion in the past few years.
Had Rooney scored I think his celebrations would have been muted, but he was cheered loudly by the United fans, Lukaku got plenty of abuse so had every right to retaliate IMHO.

True but I would also say football's much faster, more elegant and more skilful than even 20 years ago. The stricter rules have been brought in to both protect players but also allow more fluid football too.
If you think back to the fitness of the players and the speed of the game then football now is very different and that plays a part. The foul for which Luiz was sent off for today was far more dangerous because of the speed of the two players involved.

Re: Season 2017/2018
The speed of play has other consequences as well. Watching Goals on Sunday this morning showed that the speed at which Man City attacked was too fast for the linesman. Two of City's first three goals were offside.
