Al Kazeem landed his third consecutive Group One contest when he won the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown Park.

Sent off the 15-8 favourite after winning the Tattersalls Gold Cup and the Prince Of Wales's Stakes, the Roger Charlton-trained five-year-old was settled in third for most of the way as Mukhadram led the way, just as he had done when they met at Royal Ascot.

Al Kazeem looked to have the front-runner's measure when brought up to challenge in the final quarter-mile by James Doyle and though he did Mukhadram no favours as he went past, he then raced clear to beat Aidan O'Brien's running-on challenger Declaration Of War by two lengths.

Top jumps owner Johnson dies

Grand National-winning owner David Johnson died on Saturday after a long battle with cancer.

Johnson, 67, had a host of big-race winners over jumps in his famous blue and green silks, but none bigger than the David Pipe-trained Comply Or Die, who landed Aintree glory in 2008 in the hands of Timmy Murphy.

Johnson's colours were also carried to top-level success by crack two-miler Well Chief, winner of the Arkle Trophy, Maghull Novices' Chase and Victor Chandler Chase as well as engaging in famous battles with Azertyuiop and Moscow Flyer.

Another star name was Lady Cricket, who numbered the Thomas Pink Gold Cup at Cheltenham in 2000 on her roll of honour.

Its very sad to hear of the death of such a lovely man.

Tenacious filly Tickled Pink landed the Group Three Coral Charge for Tom Queally and Lady Cecil at Sandown Park.

The 5-2 favourite, out of Trevor Stewart's Royal Ascot winner Cassandra Go, is clearly as speedy as her mother and seemed to relish the drop down to a five-furlong trip.

Queally was challenged for the lead by Mince, who looked about to get on top, but the grey forced her head back in front and was able to hold off Kingsgate Native's late challenge by a length.

Emirates Queen enhanced her paddock value with a determined success in the bet365 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock.

A half-sister to triple Group One winner Dubawi, the Luca Cumani-trained filly (20-1) was given a cool ride by Andrea Atzeni, who was able to weave a way through from the two pole.

Quickening smartly on the outside of favourite Albasharah, the winner was driven out to score by three-quarters of a length from Moment In Time, with the 5-4 market leader in third, having not helped her chance by racing keenly through the early stages.

Integral earns step up in class.

Integral maintained her unbeaten record when coming with a strong finish under Ryan Moore in the Coral Distaff at Sandown.

Sent off at 4-1 after winning a Goodwood maiden for Sir Michael Stoute, she was slowly away and needed to come wide in a messy race.

Light Up My Life was safe from the scrimmaging out in front, but Integral showed a terrific turn of foot as she quickened away by a length and a half, despite Moore's saddle having slipped early in the race.

Marois next target for Intello.

Connections of Intello were in no rush to commit the colt to a Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe bid after he followed up his French Derby triumph with a smooth victory in the Prix Messidor at Maisons-Laffitte.

The only three-year-old in a six-strong line-up, Andre Fabre's colt disposed of his older rivals in decisive fashion on what was a drop back in trip to a mile.

After stablemate Prince D'Alienor set the pace, Intello (2-7) put the race to a bed with a good turn of foot in the hands of Olivier Peslier to win by a length and a half from Mainsail.

Mukhadram will be given time to get over tough races at Royal Ascot and Sandown before connections decide on where to run him next.

The William Haggas-trained colt was an unlucky third in his latest race in the Coral-Eclipse on Saturday after his customary bid to make all the running.

Had he not been hampered by the winner Al Kazeem in the final half-furlong, the four-year-old would probably have held on to second place.

Fugue team target Nassau repeat.

John Gosden will prepare The Fugue for a repeat victory in Goodwood's Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes after an excuse emerged for her uncharacteristically poor run at Sandown on Saturday.

Lord Lloyd-Webber's filly produced a bad scope after finishing last behind Al Kazeem in the Coral-Eclipse, where she never looked dangerous and was brought home gently by jockey William Buick.

Raymond: Rizeena very special

Bruce Raymond expects Rizeena to show star quality should she line-up in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

The former jockey, who won this race in 1985 on Storm Star, is now a prominent racing manager, including to Rizeena's owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum.

He feels the Clive Brittain-trained juvenile is something special and is the one all her rivals must fear in the Group Two over six furlongs, formerly known as the Cherry Hinton Stakes

Peslier has faith in Intello.

Olivier Peslier expects Intello to prove he is the best three-year-old colt in Europe when he runs in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on August 11.

Intello, trained by Andre Fabre, successfully dropped back in trip in the Prix Messidor at Maisons-Laffitte on Sunday after winning the French Derby over an extended mile and a quarter at Chantilly.

He is a leading fancy for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October but Peslier, who has won the Longchamp showpiece four times, says that getting to the Marois is the first priority, where is is likely to meet Jim Bolger's Dawn Approach.

Dandino's defection has left a field of seven remaining in Thursday's Princess Of Wales's boylesports.com Stakes at Newmarket.

Marco Botti has opted to take an alternative path with the recent Hardwicke Stakes runner-up but there are a number of highly rated horses left in the field for the Group Two event over a mile and a half.

They are headed by Mark Johnston's Hardwicke third and Jockey Club Stakes winner Universal, and Lady Cecil's filly Wild Coco, who collected the Park Hill Stakes but has not been seen yet this year.

Gosden hails Falmouth field

John Gosden is delighted to be represented by Elusive Kate in a small but top-class entry for the Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

Only five horses remain in the Group One before the final declaration stage, but the Newmarket handler feels they are of the highest quality.

Elusive Kate was second behind Giofra 12 months ago and the pair are again in opposition, but Gosden believes Sky Lantern, the Qipco 1000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes heroine, has to be the one to fear.

Butler waits on hearing date

A date has not yet been set for Gerard Butler's hearing at the British Horseracing Authority over charges of administering a medication containing banned anabolic steroids to some of his horses.

The Newmarket trainer publicly revealed in the aftermath of the Mahmood Al Zarooni case that a number of his horses had tested positive after being being given Sungate, a joint treatment which contains Stanozolol.

Butler said he had used Sungate on veterinary advice and believed that many other horses in Newmarket had been given similar treatment
