Extend VM cable to gardem
His all just joined and looking for help. I want to extend my VM cabe 50m into my garden to a small bar so that I can move a box from the house and watch sports outside when weather permits. How do I do this and what cable do I use also do I need to boost the signal in some way?

Re: Extend VM cable to gardem
I would not consider doing such a large extension yourself.
Get Virgin Media to do it for a£99 charge.

Re: Extend VM cable to gardem
Hi, thanks for the advice however from the external box attached to the side of my house where the splitter is located it's just a case of running the cable I guess to the bar area? What cable should I be using a mate of mine said 11mm but what does that mean.

To be fair, if you don't know what that means, then it's probably best that you don't do it
I'd just pay the 99 quid and get it done properly.

Re: Extend VM cable to gardem
I agree. Get Virgin Media to do it.
I doubt you will be able to balance the power level changes caused by extending the cabling.

Re: Extend VM cable to gardem
Is this the box on the outside of your house - if so, what do you intend to do to the connections inside it to get the extra connection?

Re: Extend VM cable to gardem
It would be better (and cheaper) to look at other options for extending the service from the existing VM installation: Internet can use Wi-Fi extenders and TV can be put into a modulator and then standard co-ax. OK it's not HD or UHD but it is an option.

Re: Extend VM cable to gardem
Virgin wont do the work as the OP doesn't want to pay for multiroom.

Then as others have said just pay the £99 and get VM to install it properly who will make sure your power levels are all correct.

Re: Extend VM cable to gardem
Are you sure it's 50m? That's one big garden! Depending on the distance from the street cabinet to your house, it not might be possible to extend it that far, even if VM do it.

I assume they will if he pays the £99.
