Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
The LED "filament" bulb came in the post today. Just fitted it in my star lamp in the stairwell and it looks great. Almost indistinguishable from a conventional incandescent but takes only 4 watts and reputedly 30,000 hour life. All nice and sparkly.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Lovely meal for Mother's Day, treated my mum and Nan to a Chinese meal (they both like Chinese food) and the plan was to pay for all 6 of us but my step dad got there and paid £50 of the bill before I could. Oh well, shame to let that spoil a good meal.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Just finished making a batch of six fish* pies, #2 ceramic pie dishes. Potato and parsnip mash topping with nutmeg. One each for me and the OH tonight, the rest go in the freezer for 'ron.
*Smoked pollock, pollock, smoked herring, cod and salmon. Tastes yummy.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Natalie keeps trying to get me to eat fish again. I must admit she's not having much luck so far.
Although I did have fish pie one night in hospital.

l have to admit that l love fish but some don't like the texture of it as they see it as wet and slimy.

Now I'm on a healthy diet because of my heart stuff and a low potassium diet because of my kidneys.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
I like most fish especially smoked mackerel. Can't stand shell fish though except prawns or langoustines. More the concept than the flavour. Just things that grub about in the rubbish on the seabed.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Haddock or plaice for me. What I hate is the smell. As I said to someone last week, it is nuts that something that can taste so lovely can smell so bad on the fish counters.

That's because it's stale and several days old. Real fresh fish has virtually no smell at all. If you can buy it from the off shore fishermen on the beach that's the best of all. If it's actually stiff rather than floppy then it's only an hour or two old. (Dead)

Blimey 'Heero Towers' must be very well insulated. Our gas was £310 and electricity about £260.
Our happy thought is that Osem Jnr #2 just came home from school having been in respite over the weekend. It was nice to have a break but great to give him a nice big welcome home hug.
