They even have " in god we trust" printed on their money.
Yes, the founding fathers wanted to keep Religion and the state separate.
But so do we? The Queen may be the head of the Church of England, but in no way does it directly affect the politic of our country.

Re: Is Britain a Christian country?
Think this blog explains the reality better than I can.
We are not a Christian country as we do not have Theological Unity. However, we are a country infused with Christian principles.

Britain is now a "post-Christian" country, the former Archbishop of Canterbury has said.
Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Rowan Williams said Britain was not a nation of believers and that the era of widespread worship was over.

Quote:
Lord Williams, who retired from being the leader of the Church of England in 2012, said: "If I say that this is a post-Christian nation, that doesn't mean necessarily non-Christian.
"It means the cultural memory is still quite strongly Christian."

Re: Is Britain a Christian country?
Ann Widdecombe claims it was easier to be a Nazi or Communist in post-war Britain than a Christian today.

Quote:
In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live's Stephen Nolan, the Conservative former politician said concerns over "political correctness" meant people were reluctant to express their faith to others because "they think strong belief offends them".

"So I think it is a very difficult country now, unlike when I was growing up, in which to be a Christian, an active Christian at any rate."

Mmm, the 26 bishops that sit in the House of Lords and are there solely because they are Bishops must be worried then

I doubt it. Their position is protected by centuries of custom and practice. Their right to stand up and "be Christian" in the House of Lords is as secure as their right to do so in their own pulpits.
Widdecombe's comments were made with society at large in mind. It's not nearly so easy to be a Christian in an ordinary social context these days, in part because we have now had at least a generation and a half who never went to Sunday school. If you announce to your social circle that you're a Christian, many of them now have no idea what that means, nor what the implications of it are. Many of those that do, have been so indoctrinated by the drip, drip, drip feeding of the ideas of fools like Dawkins that their basic assumption is that if you're a Christian you're an apologist for paedophiles, emotionally fragile, still believe in Santa, etc etc etc. It's low level, but it's pernicious. The idea of respecting convictions, even if you don't share them, has gone right out of the window.

Re: Is Britain a Christian country?
what bullplop most Christians do not do anything other than visit a church or meeting place with like minded people. Very few Christians today do any real ministry
It is harder to feel comfortable with expressing an opinion on any minority however

Might that be because

No. Most christian churches have not done a proper ministry for centuries
