1TB Tivo's being phased out and replaced with V6's?
I have a 1TB Tivo box and a V6. Just had an engineer out because the Tivo died and he said I was unlucky as he had one 1TB Tivo left on his van otherwise he would have had to replace it with another V6 as the 1TB boxes were being phased out and they were just going to keep the 500GB ones.
If this is definitely the case my Tivo may just go wrong again in a few weeks

If they downgraded my 1Tb to 500Gb they would get it shoved up their 'arris..

Tivo 1tb have been phased out months ago. A small number is kept for replacents. In my area if there are no tivo1tbs we use a tivo500

I can see trouble ahead with this policy. It is not replacing like for like.

I agree it should be a V6, especially if the customer paid extra for the storage

Exactly, as a matter of intrest what would happen if the customer refused the "sub standard" replacement?
The key part is the customer paid extra for the larger storage. I can see retentions being busy in your area and the engineers having to re-visit with V6's.

They would probly get a v6 on quickstart when they complain to retentions

Only problem with a 1 TB V6 box is you cannot archive recordings off directly, this is really important for some customers with a 1 TB TiVo box!

My main problem with V6 is that it doesn't have SCART and HDMI -> SCART converter is composite and not good enough.

Is this VM being backwards again? Surely they'd keep the TiVo with the higher storage.

If it was up to me I would have stopped production of the Tivo500 and have kept the 1TB model, its probably cheaper to buy a 1TB HDD than a 0.5TB HDD
