Upgrading to Premiere Collection (w/ 100MB) from XL PLus - cost?
Hi,
Wondering how much I'd be looking at to upgrade my services.
Currently on the old XL Plus package (but contract has expired) and paying around £80 PM for 50MB BB, XL TV and XL Phone.
I like the look of the Premiere collection (not bothered about having M Phone) but want 100MB BB.
Couple of things. Not sure about this free doublespeed upgrade lark. If I go for the standard premiere collection with 60 meg bb, will I get that doubled for free? My area hasnt been upgraded yet but is due to be upgraded by july as my 50 is still 50 and not 100. Or do I have to pay extra for 100 basically now as part of a new package?
Also what price will I be looking at all in (with and without 100mb upgrade to the standard premiere collection). And will it be a 18 month contract or 12 for me when I upgrade?

Premier collection is £58.90
With 100Mbps Premier collection is apparently £66.15
(all this according to "build your own bundle")

Thanks Void.
Anyone know about contract length when upgrading to a collection for existing customers (18 or 12) and if I sign up to Premiere now before my area has been "doublespeed" upgraded, will I get doublespeeded for free when the upgrade takes place or do I need to pay the extra as part of the new package now?

As I understand it, current customers are being doubled, new customers are getting the speeds they sign up for-I think this means that if you sign up for one of the collections with 60mb broadband it will remain at 60.

Okay, so 100MB Premiere Collection upgrade as an existing customer will tie me into 12 month contract for £66.15 pm. Any installation/activation costs?

Re: Upgrading to Premiere Collection (w/ 100MB) from XL PLus - cost?
probably have a £49.95 installation fee with the activation fee waived
...unless there's a possibility of sweet talking the CS rep
If you opt for the 1Tb tivo, then it'll be the £49.95 + £49.95 upfront fees
From another thread, if you already have a V+, insist on having that relocated instead of the VHD
Just a side note, it's worth asking if existing customers would qualify for the free wireless N adapter and the 6 months of Spotify premium?

what would having my v+ relocated instead of having a vhd box achieve?
edit: looks like vhd box has no hard drive. thats the only difference?

Re: Upgrading to Premiere Collection (w/ 100MB) from XL PLus - cost?
Thanks. Just noticed But one thing I will say my V+ EPG is very slow and clumsy. switching channels is slow aswell due to the HD I think and a slow epg. Is the VHD without its HD faster and does it have a better EPG? As Im not too bothered about a HD in the second room

If you're not concerned with no recording facility in the second room then keep the VHD. The V+ is being phased out as VM are using Cisco for both Tivo and VHD boxes. It seems (mentioned elsewhere on this forum) that VM will implement the Tivo software on the VHD in the future.

Don't forget that V+ also allows pause/rewind/fast forward of "live channels".
It also has reminder and better red button (which is not yet on TiVo).
I would keep V+ rather than VHD (no cost difference) and see if your "niggles" can be sorted.

EPG on the V HD is the same as the V+ HD one, just without the recording bits. Also EPG on the V HD only lists 1 day ahead, not 7 days that the V+ HD does

Re: Upgrading to Premiere Collection (w/ 100MB) from XL PLus - cost?
I'm sure I read online somewhere the VHD is quicker and swifter at navigating through the channels and the EPG, and therefore generally more responsive than the V+ - can anyone who has both confirm this?

Re: Upgrading to Premiere Collection (w/ 100MB) from XL PLus - cost?
We had both before taking Tivo a few weeks ago. I can't say that we noticed any difference between the two. It really depends upon whether you need the recording/pause/rewind etc. facilities of the V+. We kept our V+ because we wanted the additional recording facility.
