If there's nothing to post about, people could always just not post (a bit of a wild and crazy idea, I know......).

It`s well documented that ITV make some of the best British drama on our tv these days,Downton Abey to name just one. Even dear old aunty admits that, albeit quietly.

Downton Abbey is a good drama, but remember, ITV also make the X-Factor, BGT, The Only Way is Essex and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. Their news service is a joke and they have killed off World of Action and they used to make many great dramas! Remember Thames Television?

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
I have said all the time that we should not have to pay a TV licence fee, at the moment we have subs we pay for what we want to watch.
90% of the time l don't watch BBC so why should l pay for a licence, all l watch at the moment is Mrs Browns Boys and Call The Midwife, and thats it. The sports output is poor. Films are poor.
I get more entertainment from Sky (& VM)than BBC.
I always remember many years ago, A family man was taken to court for failing to pay his licence, and he proved to the court he could not get BBC, and he got away with it.
But, it was understood then, that as you had a TV it had to have a licence - it was the TV that needed the licence, and NOT the channel.

The BBC's news service is bertter than ITV's news service and just as good as the C4 news service!

ITV do not make any quality drama bar "Downton Abbey"
All othe programmes made by them are rubbish!

The BBC needs more money to pay for better film and sport coverage!

But they already get a considerable amount of money from the license payer and altough the license fee has been frozen until 2017 there is still plenty of sporting action that the viewers can watch as 2012 looks like being a excellent year of sport on the BBC.

But the BBC now has to fund the World Service and S4C, with the same amount of money, the BBC should take control of the licence fee as that is poltical interference!
I am very surprised Sky Sports has not pinched the Oypmpics, they have got all the other sports bar Wimbledon!

l am not sure that The Olympics would ever be allowed to go on PPV TV as it gets such a large global audience that limiting its availability to just that audience would be a very unwise move and more then that would be frowned upon by advertisers and the multinational companies in my own humble opinion.

The Olympics are secure, but that is just about the only major sport that is safe from Sky Sports in the UK!

Aren't certain sports protected the Olympics, Six Nations, Wimbledon, football World Cups so they must appear on freeview TV?

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 1
Even Wimbledon isn't safe... as far as I know it's only the semis and finals which MUST be on Free TV.
The Tories want the little that is left looked at and maybe taken off the so called "Crown Jewels" list.... another sucker to Murdoch i guess.

BBC have a contract till 2017 for Wimbledon.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Tories get the 2009 listed events viewed.

That would be the Ofcom Code on Sports and Other Listed and Designated Events, but I bet that list will be reduced!
