What is wrong with people - Celtic v Rangers
http://news.sky.com/story/1419023/ol...-derby-returns
I read this article, and thought great. The Scottish rivalry between the clubs is beginning again.
But then l read that some Celtic fans feels that the 'rivalry is now dead, due to financial problems'
What is wrong with fans. The rivalry is still there, no matter what stupid comments from Celtic fans says.
These derbies will continue next season when Rangers get promoted, these games are great for Scottish football.
Those comments could be said about Arsenal v Spurs. The Gunners may have moved from Highbury, but that rivalry is still there and much stronger.
The biggest problem that needs to be solved is the strongly 'religious' actions between the clubs - and l cannot see that happening.

Re: What is wrong with people - Celtic v Rangers
It's football fans. A significant proportion of them, on all sides, are morons and will let petty rivalry get in between common sense, reason and logic.

No guarantees of that. Rangers won't win automatic promotion and are so woeful I don't trust them to win a playoff assuming they don't go into administration again before that point.

Re: What is wrong with people - Celtic v Rangers
Not sure what this thread is actually about??
The thread title doesn't really relate to the linked article. Its just a new article about the game going ahead today. In no way has their been any trouble or anything even mentioned apart from pre match baiting. Where as your title indicates something happened.
Even if Rangers go under for good their would still be fans that would keep the rivalry going. Its the nature of the beast.

Re: What is wrong with people - Celtic v Rangers
Stephen, Rangers wont go under, they are being financially pushed by Ashley. Any business that he has been involved in has flourished.
Look at it this way. If there were no more Old Firm derbies, Its something that will effect Scottish football. I have been to the derbies, and they have been very good, with atmosphere.
But my point is simply this Scottish football NEED this derbies. I have watched loads of Scottish football, and the ground have been empty. So how the clubs survive on Tv money, l don't know.
BUT, comments that are made, can ruin the game.

Re: What is wrong with people - Celtic v Rangers
If that is your point then why was your thread title, what is wrong with people??
There will never be another old firm derby. Today was the first time the two teams met, it was a new firm derby. Scottish football has manged fine without them for the last few years so really that point is invalid now.
Also Rangers will go under again at some point in the future. They are that much in debt and have borrowed so much money they are barely in control of themselves or even own their own stadium and training ground. Have you seen the terms of their recent loans from Ashley?

Workers at USC might disagree with that statement.

I should point out they still own Ibrox and Auchenhowie, Ibrox isn't used as security over anything, yet. Also they aren't in debt to a significant degree. They've burnt through money at a huge rate but don't actually owe that much out with soft loans from shareholders.
