Sky Movies snaps up James Bond films for TV, on-demand
Quote:
Sky Movies has agreed a deal with MGM to make the entire James Bond film back catalogue available on television and video on-demand later in the year.
From October, Sky subscribers will be able to watch all 22 official Bond titles from EON Productions on Sky Movies Showcase, from Dr No in 1962 to the last Bond film, Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig as the iconic British spy.
The two non-EON titles, 1967's spoof Bond Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again, will also be available to Sky Movies customers.
All the movies will also be shown 'side-by-side' on Sky Movies Showcase in standard and high definition. They will also be offered in the Sky Movies section of video on-demand service Sky Anytime, and on the Sky Go multiplatform service available to all Sky customers.

Just what we wanted. More popular movies behind a pay-wall.
(Of course, that's exactly what the Murdoch's want; ie everything behind their paywall. (Hence their hatred of the BBC! And some people wonder why some people hate the Murdochs!)

You are aware that the Murdochs do not own Sky? What you're trying to say is like blaming Virginmedia because Virgin has been found selling personal flight details of celebs and removing funding from an Air Ambulance.
Yes Virginmedia is connected to Richard Branson as a share holder, yes Murdoch has Shares in Sky but that's where it ends. Sky would still be doing everything they are doing if Murdoch was not a share holder. Or do you think if Murdoch sold his shares in BskyB then BskyB would suddenly become a charity?
I still have Virginmedia even though my wife is disgusted with them because of the removal of Air ambulance funding.

Yes, but my comment still stands. Try doing some research.

Yes. Except it's not really and that's the worst analogy ever

Yes. He is one of, if not the, smallest shareholders. Whereas Murdoch owns 40% of BSkyB.

And, in the process, taking content away from FTA TV.

I'm afraid like it or not that's life , as a VM TV subscriber you've also made the choice of Pay TV.

And better to pay Virgin our money rather then finance Murdoch's grubby pockets.

But you are lining his pockets , part of your XL fee goes to Sky and I see from your profile your a Sky Sports subscriber. I see the thread has now condescended into the usual conversation thanks to the usual suspects , go and vent your anger in the News Corp thread.

Re: Sky Movies snaps up James Bond films for TV, on-demand
Murdoch may not outright own Sky but his influence upon it is writ large. However maybe his influence is about to wane.
I just wish Ofcom would grow a pair and stand up to Sky and it monopolistic tendencies. It is hardly competitive when one company seems to get an undue share of products available because it has had undue influence waged on it's behalf with government by Murdoch..
