Re: U.S President: Donald Trump
We now have a pathetic story tonight about Kellyanne Conway putting her feet on the Oval office Couch?
http://news.sky.com/story/kellyanne-...trage-10785305
Obama put his feet on the Desk in the Oval office. Did not see the fecking outcry when he did that....
Let's not go there with what Bill Clinton was said to have got up to with that Monica woman in there.....

Me either really. It's just how often Trump went on about Obama's trips. 4 times in 6 weeks is running up a hell of a budget.

Totally agree - complete non-story.
However, Obama was merely following in the footsteps ( ) of his Republican predecessors....
btw, some "outcry" here....

But we all know he did 'NOT have sexual relations with that woman'* don't we and taking advantage of a young intern was is no way as heinous a crime as Trump boasting about grabbing young women to a mate.

No I am going by the politico story which also has the known costs of closing airports etc. But then Trump hasn't seen them either when he criticised it, as I said it's hypocrisy.

Known costs to actual costs ? If he owns the resort he is not going to bill himself.
Cost is pure logistics of him travelling in Air Force One and additional Secret Service Protection. President has to fly in that plane, as it said to be the Flying White House.
You do know Trump is not taking his Presidential Salary ? $400K per year. I suppose when you're a Multi Billionaire : 400K is a drop in the Ocean.
Also how he has wiped billions off the cost off the new Air Force One plane and Fighter Jets.
As for closing of airports. It's not his fault he needs beefed up security from Secret Service to protect him from nutters threatening to kill him.

And most of these costs are the same for Obama who would have had to pay for his own food and accommodation as well unless he went to Camp David as it's a U.S Government property.
I agree he needs Air Force One (fun fact, it's only Air Force One if the President is in it). I also know he isn't taking the Presidential salary but according to documents released whilst the Republicans were hunting down Obama's travel costs it's $200,000 a hour to fly Airforce One so it's rather negligible.
The point stands though that he is already racking up these costs when he seems to insist on flying to Florida for the weekend which he will have done 4 out of the 6 weekends he has been President which is hypocritical when he frequently, along with the Republicans, slagged off Obama for it. Unless he stops altogether he is going to greatly exceed Obama's travel costs and time away from the White House. If he continues at this rate it will be astronomically more.

I find UK news organisations rather weak on American news. None of them are that good. The only passable ones were the weeklies (Economist, Spectator) as they are more about commentary and the FT as they have a specialised focus rather than a general appeal.

The point does not stand : I asked you if you had seen the invoices to his travel costs, you said no, you're basing your view on what some report says they think the costs are. They don't really know.
Also I see you're missing the point he is travelling to one of his properties so he won't have accommodation costs to pay, so not quite the same costs of Obama. So while yes, Obama would have racked up costs with Air Force One, he would also have to pay for the accommodation as well.

A tad worrying for Trump?

He's either
i) Not worked out how soft power works.
ii) Realised he won't get away with cuts in this area but appreciates he has everything to gain by pretending to try. In this way, he will be seen by his supporters as trying to save money in unnecessary areas and they'll be happy.

No one's going to see the original invoices. Heck, despite his promises, we've not even seen Trump's tax returns. Not that they've ever been relevant to anyone's skills as President.
You can't just knock everything back because the primary source is unavailable, that's impossibly unrealistic. You have to take what's available and take an informed view.

And nor did Trump when he criticized Obama. As I said it's hypocrisy. Besides we're reading if we literally have to see the invoices for spending ourselves to offer criticism. We can safety assume that decamping to his golf club isn't cheap.

No I answered that. The first line. Obama would have had to pay for accommodation and food costs himself. Trump saves that because it's his property but it's his own money he saves.

Re: U.S President: Donald Trump
Trump's speech seems well received:
Presidential Trump
