unfinalise a dvd-rw/cd-rw disc?

Hi all,

I'm never sure if finalising a RW CD means it can never be written to again or if there is hope in reversing it?

One reason I ask is that I had a load of DVD-RWs for my birthday and want to be able to play them in another player but they have to be finalised to do that...

Can someone please advise if you can do this with either software in a PC or a DVD recorder standalone?

If the disk isn't finalised it won't be playable in a stand alone player as the Table Of Contents (TOC) isn't complete. Finalising a re-writable doesn't stop you erasing and reusing it. All PC burning software will have a finalisation feature.
