Halo
I went into it with an open mind as I have never played the game and know nothing about the story. It is off to a promising start. They have gone all out on the special effects, they are phenomenal. There is one thing itching my realism factor but I won't say anything until I have seen a few more episodes. In terms of a well made proper scifi series though, I strongly recommend you give it a try.

Re: Halo
Just watched the first three episodes of Halo - really enjoying it, not what I was expecting (having played the game), but looking forward to the rest of the season.
It’s not a simplistic "shoot em up" - it reminds me very much of "Space - Above and Beyond".

You win “obscure sci fi reference of the week”
I used to like that though. Which streamer has Halo?

Paramount+. It is well worth checking out. I haven't watched this week's ep yet but I really enjoyed the first two. Some of the acting is very hollow and would ordinarily kill me but the production quality and story more than makes up for it. They have gone all out on set design and visual effects; the last time I was wowed this much was Game of Thrones and I can't remember ever seeing a scifi series with this much detail and realism. You can watch it really believing those locations exist. The other thing I am really enjoying is the story and depth. I have never played the game and know nothing of the story so this is all new to me and I am really enjoying it. It is far more than a scifi action shooter and Paramount have really gone all in on this and committed 110%.

Re: Halo
I’m curious how you’re getting Paramount+ when it doesn’t have a UK launch date yet. (And yes I know all about VPNs, it’s the process of getting an account with a UK billing address/credit card that seems surprising to me).

I’m going to assume any such address has a very low realism factor

Just gone through the free week set up upto payment date and you can pay by paypal with no address set up. Whether it would flag the Paypal address and then stop you I dunno but it might not.
Interestingly you can also get Virtual US credit cards https://www.usunlocked.com/service/ not that I have tried this

VPN using US IP address, on my Bro-in-law's Paramount+ account (he lives in Connecticut).

I'm not.
Like many, I get it from "other" sources.
I'm sure you can figure it out.
