Beckham to leave Real Madrid
Beckham 'to leave Real in summer'
David Beckham will leave Real Madrid in the summer, according to the club's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic.
"Beckham will leave us, we will not renew his contract with the club," he told Sky Italia television. The 31-year-old, whose current deal expires in June, has been linked with a host of clubs from England, Italy, Spain, France and the United States. Beckham has found his opportunities limited at Real this season under coach Fabio Capello.

Re: Beckham to leave Real Madrid
I remember him saying he'd not play for another club in England again after feeling betrayed by Man U, but I'm sure the Villa faithful would welcome him with open arms if he decided to join Villa

Re: Beckham to leave Real Madrid
Why the blinkin' flip he'd WANT to come back to the UK is beyond me. He should go to America and has a nice life

Story has been updated...
Quote:
However, Mijatovic later said his words had been mistranslated and he actually said: "Beckham's contract has not been renewed, yet."
However, the BBC understands talks are scheduled to go ahead later this week.

Wherever he goes, I wish him well. Only those with a very short memory or some other agenda would deny he was a hell of a player.

I wonder what his arrival will do for U.S. football, they have tried hard not to go down the NY Cosmos route and actually build an infrastructure, lets hope for the good of the game there that it isn't abandoned in favour of signing older players with their best days behind them

It seems strange seeing that so many big European clubs wanted him and he ends up going to a league that to be honest is poor, i cannot help think its to do with money.
George Best did the same thing in his career, i think he went to the Los Angeles Aztecs and a team in San Jose and ended up coming back to England, maybe Beckham will do the same.

That's what I meant about regretting it, how many millions do you need and you are a long time retired in that sport, of course he may have an eye on helping them really try to develop the game out the, with some sort of ambassadorial role when he eventually retires, I could see that appealing to him, his soccer schools wouldn't be harmed by such an adventure either. Just seen this, the mind boggoling £128 million contract probably help make his mind up to
