i myself will follow ruud wherever he goes, to me he is a world class striker when he was at PSV, and at united, he has still got it in him, its a shame he had all those injuries last season, ferguson didnt help things......
he will settle in fairly quickly in my opinion, he might need some time and get used to the players around him, but overall i dont expect anything on the contrary, if they can keep him injury free.

Actually, I am glad he has gone.....
His goal scoring record speaks for itself, but then again so would yours if you stood in the six yard box for 90 minutes.
I refer back to Russ's post back in the previous thread here
His heart has not been at Man Utd for some time.

your doubting van nistelrooy, trust me the club will miss him, when hes scoring goals for real madrid ill be ruing this sell, ok so for about a year his heart has not been in it, but i think it all could have been handled better, ferguson doesent like players growing bigger than him, japp stam, david beckham, now RVN, we could have got a good few years out of him yet, i dont think we will score goals, thats been our problem while RVN has been out, scoring goals.
whos left then ?
rooney not 25-30 goals a season yet...
solskjaer, not played for two years really, apart from reserves here and there
saha, i still have doubts he can do the business consistantly at this level
alan smith, when he comes back from injury he will score again NOT a proven goalscrorer
guseppe rossi, too young too inexperianced, he showed it in the celtic game, hes not ready for a full time premeiership and cup schedule....
whos gonna be our 25-30 goals a season man ?
the top clubs all pretty much have a 20-30 goals a season man, thats how you can bring success to a club.

That was the thing, until Ruud came to utd, we never really had a 20-30 goal scorer. The goals were spread across the team (wasn't Steve Bruce a top scorer one year?), which for me, was a good thing, as we weren't reliant on one player. When Ruud came, utd changed their style, relied on him.
I'll give him this, he did have a good goals tally, but in a lot of matches, key ones at that, if they kept him quiet, utd were quiet, which is the problem.

yep, your right, i can see ronaldo scoring some goals, dont know about scholes, aslong as hes still got that passing and vision he used to have, its just i dont see many united players being regular goal scorers.
i was also a fan of fortune, im sad to see he left, he had no flair but he was resiliant, reliable, quite liked him.

That's the thing though, they were until Ruud came and we changed style.
We don't need a sole goalscorer, that's the point. It's proven with utd and other teams that if your tactics are to rely on one frontman, you can be neutered if can keep him out of the game.
We used to play with the whole team before and I hope that we can go back to doing so.

i dunno, the game changes, so many other times rely on a 20 goals a season man, im not saying its the only way to win, but these youngsters were producing i just dont have confidence in them, apart from one or two..... i just feel we could do with another striker, maybe a center half....

Chelsea didn't really rely on one striker last year.
Our most successful period was prior to Ruud's arrival...
Take Newcastle as an example with Shearer. Totally reliant on him and even more useless without him... Andy Cole at Newcastle, totally reliant on him when he was there...

According to Sky Sports, Martin O'Neill had agreed to be the new manager if Lerner had bought the club
Unfortunately, the current chairman ( ) decided that it would be a good idea to treat Lerner like a pillock, so he's backed out of the deal Why can't he just accept that the vast majority of Villa fans don't want him there anymore?

Apparently Sven's agent Athol Still has put a deal on the table to buy the club, you could end up with him as manager then

well after hoofy O'Leary and hoofy Taylor they'd not notice hoofy Sven, still loads of neck ache.
But they could get the same with hoofy Megson (Mr Hunt, Clive) at a fraction of the cost lol.

Re: The official close season non-World Cup football gossip/rumour thread
well looks like Ruud has gone as he's passed his medical and Real have a press conference for tonight at 1800 BST
that leaves us with
Rooney : great striker but better when coming deep onto the play. can't lpay upfront on his own as Sven showed and just can't see him getting over 15 a season
Saha : a good player but just not convinced he can perform at this level for a whole season.. plus we know he will be injured for at least 10 games a season anyway
Rossi : looks great in the reserves but so far not really done anything at senior level.. can he step up and take the pressure this season .. doubt it
Ronaldo : too selfish to ever pass the ball and just plays for Ronaldo rather than the team.. is meant to be a winger anyway.. will only get 5-10
Solskjaer : too old and not the same player since he came back
looks like we should have signed AJ when he was available

Don't panic, United looked better without Nistelrooy last season and will do again.

Re: The official close season non-World Cup football gossip/rumour thread
manchester united have waisted between 15-17 million pounds on tottenham midfielder michael carrick, the two clubs have agreed a fee the deal will (hopefully not) be completed on monday.

in my earlier posts i made a slight suggestion that i was unhappy the way ferguson has handled the RVN situation...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...td/5226102.stm
the above suggests right.
im sorry but i have to say SAF is just being a ****** right now, he throws his toys out of the pram when a player trys to show a bit of authority, he doesent want anyone being bigger than him, he wants all players to be under his thumb, i know hes done a alot for the club, but his decisions over the past few years have cost the club dearly...

To true, he should have gone when he said he was going to retire, all he has done since then is tarnish his legacy and waste millions. 50p says that when he eventually does get put out to pasture he will hang round Old Trafford undermining who ever succeeds him.
