Re: DVDs & Blu-ray Discs you Lust after ..
I ordered Blade Runner the other day on BD. I ordered some limited edition 5 disc version. I hope it comes in the next few days. I recently bought Wanted which looks pretty good on Blu-ray. My main problem is the aspect ratios though...

Blade Runner on Blu-ray is excellent. I have the "Briefcase" version (can't rememeber the official name): every possible version of the movie (US Theatrical, International Theatrical, Workprint, Director's Cut, Final Cut), loads of extras, a few souvenirs, all contained in a VK briefcase.
Wanted looks great on Blu-ray.
What's wrong with the AR?

Wanted has a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. So it displays it in a letterbox mode.

Re: DVDs & Blu-ray Discs you Lust after ..
Well, that's how it's meant to be, how the Director & DP shot it.
Most movies are greater than 16:9, as they're shot for the cinema.
Someone (can't remember which manufacturer) has actually come out with (or is coming out with) a 21:9 HD TV, which would be excellent for most DVD/BD movies. Although then of course you'd have the problem of 16:9 content (Digital TV, some DVD/BD movies) needing vertical black bars...

Blade Runner came today and it looks excellent. I wasn't expecting it to look so good.

I wonder when Saving Private Ryan will get a Blu-Ray release!

How much of an improvement is that over the DVD?
Trying not to double dip on BR.
As for this thread.....
Dune.
Aliens. I like Alien as is, the DVD still gives it that 70's feel.
The Cotton Club (Some Dir Cut that sorts it out)
The Sting (I will double dip on this if it is a big improvement)
Star Wars/Empire/Return (Original Cinema, not Lucas inspired versions)
Brazil.
