Real Star Trek Com Badge coming in November

I'll keep a long story short. A lot of people I work with (especially women) run away as soon as I mention Star Trek because "it isn't real" and it is like their brains explode just trying to think about it. When I was in my first year at uni we had to do a presentation in one of our tutorials and it was allowed to be about anything we want, the point of it was just to build up some experience. I chose to base mine on the science of Star Trek and how it is a causality paradox. Writers and dreamers come up with for ideas which they would be cool and amazing and then scientists see it and make it reality. And on that note, voila:

Star Trek TNG Bluetooth® ComBadge

Answer all your calls with the word "Go"
We've had a screen-accurate prop replica ST:TNG badge in our closet for a while. The only thing it was missing was the ability to emit the classic communicator chirp sound effect when we pressed it.

And then we found out an audio company is making a fully-functioning officially-licensed communicator badge. Behold the Star Trek TNG Bluetooth® ComBadge. It hooks up to your phone or device via Bluetooth® and has a built-in microphone for hands-free calling. Once connected, one touch answers/ends calls, plays/pauses audio, or accesses Siri, Google Now, or Cortana. And, of course, a touch plays that classic communicator sound effect. Warning: you're going to want to keep the micro-USB charging cable handy right after you receive this, because making it chirp is well-nigh irresistible.

And don't forget to sign off, "[Your name here] out."

Re: Real Star Trek Com Badge coming in November

I hate it when they do, there is so much excellent merchandise which can't be shipped outside of the US. I can remember seeing tonnes of excellent photo tshirts and other merchandise for Stargate and Star Trek from Creation Entertainment when I was at uni and it was US only. I just don't understand who it all works. They make a new Star Trek series which they know is going to be broadcast all over the world so if people want to give you more money and buy merchandise they why stop them? Look at Star Wars for god sake, how many hundreds of millions of pounds does Lucas Film/Disney make each time a new film comes out?

... or use one of the companies that simply provide you with a US address, and then ship it over to you in the uk.

I've had a number of 'US only' things sent to me this way.

Re: Real Star Trek Com Badge coming in November

I remember one company in the US, the shipping charges were ridiculously high, when I asked them about it, they said that they wanted overseas custom, but so many things "went missing", and they couldn't know if they had gone missing, or people said they never arrived, so they needed to cover their losses, and also put off some people.

I guess other companies find it easier to just refuse overseas orders, sometimes I suppose their could be license issues they're worried about.

These all look good, but are you still gouged on the shipping costs part?

Re: Real Star Trek Com Badge coming in November

Assuming I decoded the question correctly, yes, you have to pay shipping costs (about £10+ I think). I guess it depends if you want the item or not.

It's ok I've seen (on places that actually do ship to the UK from USA that the shipping costs are generally wayyy out there, just wondered if the forwarding places were similar - it seems not.
