Connection error

I have a Virgin Media pay monthly mobile phone contract which has been fine for the 11 months i've had it, up until tonight.
When I try to call somebody using 3G, I get 'connection error' then the call cuts off. The 3G internet isn't working either. If I change over to GSM, or 2G, the call goes through just fine, and my internet will work with it too. Is Virgin Media experiencing difficulties with 3G at the moment, or is it just me? I'm in the Liverpool area if that's any help, within the L12 postal district.
