Windows 10 Update causing connectivity problems

Did anybody else get a message like this today?

"We know of 1 issue in your area
We are aware that some customers using windows PCs are having issues getting online following a Microsoft Windows 10 update. We are in contact with Microsoft about this issue and will provide further updates as soon as possible.

We have identified the problem and an engineer is on their way.
Fix estimate
11 December 12:00"

The effect for me was no internet access at all until I rebooted the SH3. I assume that this will because of ongoing work. (This PC is Windows 7)

However none of our Windows 10 machines can get on line, either by WiFi or ethernet.

I would be interested to know what changes in Windows 10 could possibly cause problems like this.

Advice, but no explanation, can be got here http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...e/td-p/3276336

Re: Windows 10 Update causing problems for VM in CV3

My daughter's new Win10 machine lost internet connection (wired ethernet). The support bod was on the money "You have to use the reinstall USB as it's a known error caused by an update a couple of days ago".

It's supposedly a bug introduced after a recent update.

It's not just VM customers that are affected.

The IT world is just getting too complex and uncoordinated for the average user. It also seems to have the wrong priorities, instead of ease of use and good functionality.

The introduction of Windows 10 is just one example. Microsoft, VM and others seem to be losing the plot, rushing out upgrades, before they are ready, in the pursuit of market advantage or some such.

Most of us guys on this forum stand a chance of grappling with the shoddy software eminating from MS and others. What chance the average punter?

Re: Windows 10 Update causing connectivity problems

There has been another update I've just installed about an hour ago. Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3206632)

Mind you I didn't have any issues with the previous update.?

Windows 10 Pro. 64bit

Reading this it seems the update somehow broke automatic IP renewal (via DHCP).
