I'm not sure they will be that worried as they will probably start to hit the same problem mobilephone companys are having. Saturation- bassically everyone has a mobile-phone now so getting new customers is a struggle.

With 10.5 million customers on Sky,VM have 5 million, BT Vision has a million or 2 an so on. The days of massive quarterly growth may well be over for Sky.

But the results are good I would say.

The company signed up 159,000 customers to its high-definition TV service, taking the total base to 4.2 million.

BSkyB managed to add 212,000 broadband customers taking the total to 3.86 million and 220,000 to its telephony services taking the total to 3.6 million.

Just over 30% of Sky customers took a triple play of TV, broadband and telephony from BSkyB as at 31 March, up from 26% in the year to the end of March 2011.

Record profits maybe but one suspects one or two exacting problems on the horizon.

Well I'm not sure what problems you think Sky may have on the horizon but I have within the last 30 minutes rang Sky and I'm having 2 Sky+HD boxes fitted with a phone line and an estimated 14-20mb broadband line.

The Tv services fitted friday and phoneline an BB goes live next Thursday. I also gave 30 days notice to virginmedia.

Thats no surprise as Sky have been using a large amount of discounting to keep customers.

Analysts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch said that ARPU should have increased by £34 given increased number of products that BSkyB has sold to its customers.

BAML said that this implied "spin down" – meaning customers looking to take cheaper packages – and discounting by BSkyB to retain customers.

Darroch rejected the idea that customers were shying away from pricey TV packages, although he did admit that there was less viewing of pay-per-content such as Sky Movies premieres year-on-year.

He said the market was promotional, meaning that Sky was having to offer cheaper introductory offers to snare customers, and added that over a three- or four-year period, the company's ARPU growth was fine

The 1st quarter results of 2012 are in for Virgin Media, and the TiVoizlation of the Digital Cable Network continues, with 677,000 subscriptions to TiVo, up by 242,000 from the previous quarter. 18% of Virgin's TV customer base now has TiVo, and that number will only increase thanks to the new Collections packs which all feature TiVo.

Sky 1 brings back The Kumars

Sky 1 is bringing back spoof chat show The Kumars, with a co-production between Avatar and Hat Trick Productions planned for transmission this Autumn.

The Kumars has been commissioned by Sky’s head of Comedy Lucy Lumsden, marking a return to British screens following a six year absence. The show ran on BBC Two for seven series between 2001 and 2006.

The new series will be written by Sanjeev Bhaskar with Bert Tyler Moore, George Jeffrie and Suk Pannu, Bhaskar resumes the role of Sanjeev Kumar alongside Meera Syal (Gran/Ummi), Vincent Ebrahim (Dad/Ashwin Kumar) and Indira Joshi (Mum/Madhuri Kumar).

Also on the horizon for Sky is its next major service - Now TV - available to anyone with a broadband device.
"Now TV on track for launch in first half of calendar 2012, widening the availability of Sky content on broadband-connected devices," confirmed Sky.
Chief executive Jeremy Darroch pointed to the growth in customers taking bundles, broadband, telephone line and television.

So you really think there is any chance at all of Sky losing its broadcast licence and putting thousands of UK workers out of work and forcing 10 Million consumers to lose there TV service? REALLY? Not a chance...

Its Tom Watson who has mentioned the "unfit" thing not Ofcom and its only about Murdoch being a major share holder. Worst case senario is Murdoch sells all his shares in BskyB.

BskyB is a big successful company run by a board of directors that has just made a record £1billion pound profit. Companys making £1 billion profit in 12 months do not get shut down.

Getting the Murdochs out of Sky and out of our country is a good thing though.

As per their facebook page, the Sony Movie Channel is to be FTV.

...looks like Sky are putting them on the one year probationary period to see what the ratings are like, before giving them a cut of the subscription money.

Sky buys Acetrax

BSkyB has acquired Acetrax, the Swiss OTT venture, available through a number of connected TV devices. The company has contracts in place with device manufacturers Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, Grundig, Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Netgear and D-Link.

Sky said the acquisition would support the continued development of Sky’s its OTT activities and further strengthen relationships with connected device manufacturers and content providers.

Downloaded Blue Bloods season 1 episode 1 from Anytime and sound is out sync, i have downloaded several times and same thing, anyone else has this issue?
