Some cards/banks also have integrated app notifications so you're instantly notification of transactions.

Yep. We have a credit card with a low credit limit which we use for most of our online purchases. At least that way, our maximum possible exposure is only a few hundred pounds. I hardly ever use a debit card for the reasons you cite but increasingly we're finding that extra charges will be made for doing that whereas the debit card is free to use.

Local train station on a Sunday does not open until 8.30 and there are 50 people outside in the wet.

Don't know how it happened as it's an account that was set up to deal with my mother's estate - been no transactions since January and looking through the statements the card has NEVER been used outside of the branch - everything was cheque, direct debit or online banking.

Quick update - should be in the happy thought thread - money now back in the account. The only worry is the bank don't seem bothered that the card had only ever been used in the branch so only their employees and I would know the details. So the moral is be careful and keep a close eye on your accounts!

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Not sure if this should be in here or the happy thought thread.
After two weeks leave from work, I'm currently sat in Newcastle airport waiting to get a flight to Heathrow, and then tonight a flight from Heathrow to Singapore.
Part of me is very excited at the thought of going to see another part of the world (even if it is with work and there wont be a lot of time for sight seeing)
But, the other part of me is missing my new house, my other half and I'm certainly not looking forward to a 13hr flight.
Meh !!

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
When I left my flat last night the fire alarm was going of in the block. I return 14 hours later and it's still going of! I've managed to turn it's wailing of to just a tinitus type beep, it's still loud but it's better than it was. How on earth people put up with that all night let alone got any sleep is beyond me. This used to be a lovely place to live and so it should be, I pay through the nose to live in a nice part of London but this last six months or so some real unsavoury types have moved in.

l am sorry to hear about this TD as l know exactly how you feel as before our current neighbours moved in the previous neighbours were anti social in the extreme and the day there left my partner and l rejoiced that they were gone at last and thankfully since then we have had peaceful bliss.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
The train arrives at the station 15 minutes before its due to go and the voice announcer says we have to clean the train and stock up the buffet thus around 100 passengers are not allowed on with all their luggage until 3 minutes before its due to go.

Nothing can be as bad as the daily blood tests in 2000 when l was in hospital for 6 months so this is like a walk in the park compared to those days of yore nash.
