Release of AMD Ryzen
Today AMD has stated u can now pre order their processors and they will be on the shelves and in store on March 2nd.
They have also stated upon release over 80 motherboards for AM4 will be around, but wouldn't it be better if u could pre order a board also at the same time? I've looked on some sites and cannot find anywhere where u can buy or pre order an AM4 board.

Re: Release of AMD Ryzen
Are you addicted to buying the newest and latest before anyone else?
Wait until they've been independantly benchmarked using recognised software. You could be buying a lemon.
On the other hand if independant benchmarking proves good the price will have come down.
Or is it a case of you've got money to burn?
As regards AMD v Intel, for gamers it's no contest and never will be Intel exist on that platform.
Computing (ie workload) AMD have the edge but perhaps not for long especially with GPU computing.
Waste your money if you wish but I'll wait for benchmark results and buy to suit my needs.

There's also the reliability factor: Mil 217 down rates new technology.

Re: Release of AMD Ryzen
Will be interesting to see real life testing from all mixes of users. If anything even if the results are somewhat bumped up I can't see it being that much and even if they still lag a little behind intel it goes to show that AMD are starting to up their game.
Will be interesting to see what intel come up with though

Different results;

There are obviously more if you care to look about
Some reports out there show the difference as being nominal at best. Let's see what real-world results come in as. Should make things interesting though. Personally, I'm intel / nVidia all the way. I've tried AMD processors and GPUs, but just feel like the intel / nVidia setups are more solid / compatible / less troublesome. Each to their own I suppose.

Re: Release of AMD Ryzen
Really looking forward to reviewers benches etc. Been an Intel guy for years & I wont be changing my gear at anytime in the near future. But it's sure gonna be nice to see Intel prices tanking.
They have given us a 5-10% increase per generation and charged us an extortionate amount of money for their CPU's.
Dont get me wrong I'm not knocking that, if the consumer is happy paying large amounts of money for little increase in compuational power then all power to Intel.

1700x is the one to go for if i remember correctly from the reviews as there is only 200hz in them but the 1700x is far cheaper.

Re: Release of AMD Ryzen
Not many good reviews for AMD, runs hot an doesn't out perform intel, AMD always has and always be a budget build, nothing against AMD built several budget related units with them, both FX and APU based...

Re: Release of AMD Ryzen
The reviews are actually really good if you base it on price and the small fps the really expensive intel chips have on some of the tests.

The AMD Athlon was a great CPU which blew away the intel pentiums back in the day, maybe just before your time though. Then intel came back with the i line of processors if i remember correctly and blew AMD out the water for years and they never recovered until possibly now.
1 thing this will do though is get intel off their ass and create better cpus for less money which will benefit us consumers in the long run.
