1080p Full HD vs Quad HD vs 4K display. Does it even matter?

Hey peeps

I was wondering, would we as a consumer see a big difference between a 1080p Full HD screen vs qHD (2K) vs 4K screen? Do you think that would even matter?
Can you see the difference on a mobile device?

Some people saying it will overheat or lag or battery will die quicker.

If you can't see the difference in quality between 4k and 1080p you have sight problems.

To me 4k seems to have a great depth (almost 3D)

Re: 1080p Full HD vs Quad HD vs 4K display. Does it even matter?

Am talking about phones not TV.
For example
Sharp announces 5.5-inch 4K IGZO display with mind-blowing 806ppi pixel density
Galaxy S6 qHD (2K display) .577 ppi pixel density
HTC one full HD (1080p) 469 ppi pixel density
Nexus 4 half HD (720p) 318 ppi pixel density
Look what Apple claims that the human eye can't really distinguish more than 326 pixels per inch.

Re: 1080p Full HD vs Quad HD vs 4K display. Does it even matter?

You missed the LG G4 off that list.
5.5 inch screen 1440 x 2560 pixels (~538 ppi pixel density)
And yes its easy to see the difference in 1080p to 2k or 4k

I disagree. I have extremely good eyesight and was moaning no-end about the 720p displays on the Galaxy S IIIs but even I find 1080p is pretty much perfect, and very little difference going to QHD. Above QHD is totally pointless IMO, even QHD is stretching it.

More inflated marketing speak. Quad HD is Quad 720p HD, not Quad Full HD.

Depends on the type and size of those pixels, and the person. I can distinguish around 400-500 PPI at normal viewing distances depending on how much sleep I've had, at least on a Pentile matrix.

Re: 1080p Full HD vs Quad HD vs 4K display. Does it even matter?

How can ultra HD 4K video look so good on note 4 when note 4 screen is qHD 2K?

LG G4 is ailluminati phone by seeing the advert symbols.

Snap Dragon 810 cpu over heating so can't understand why HTC m9 and LG flex2 are using it.

Now you know the difference between 2K and 4K.

Re: 1080p Full HD vs Quad HD vs 4K display. Does it even matter?

There is nothing wrong with the 810. Yes it gets warm but that's not really a big issue.

4k of course looks great on a qhd screen as it's still a very high pixel count.

What on earth are you talking about the G4?

Tech radar says snap Dragon 810 is over heating that's why Samsung galaxy S6 used there own chip set.

Re: 1080p Full HD vs Quad HD vs 4K display. Does it even matter?

You do post some amount of nonsense!!

Samsung used their own chip as they wanted too and have done for a few years now on their flagship phones. Although in some markets they do still have a snapdragon variant.

So here is the article

http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...one-m9-1290204

It actually asks, Is it overheating?

Re: 1080p Full HD vs Quad HD vs 4K display. Does it even matter?

Well there is a huge difference in detail, i know you're talking about mobile screens but when i film in 1080p on a go pro and then film in 2k, the the difference in the amount of detail in the 2k video is huge even when i then convert it back to 1080p for youtube video's the detail is still greater than 1080 so i would conclude that 2k or 4k on a mobile device will look much more detailed
