Hopefully i will get away with it then.

Apple TV is out of the question as i read that even though it does 720p live TV it often takes this from the SD stream of the channel and upscales it, this reasoning was based on the SD DOG in the corner.

Granted, 4k on a box like this will have limited use, given most 4k TVs have Amazon and Netflix apps built in, but I believe not all do, and 4k projectors don't have the apps.

but '4k' is the industry's promotional buzz word to sell more products, and I suspect many people will want to buy a device capable of 4k whether they need it or not.

Apple tactics are to keep something back so that they can get you to upgrade next year

I did miss it and the link has been moved.
Didn't a company in the U.S. get into trouble for doing this? (If it's what i think it is)

Ah, found the article, they seem to think it'll be legal in the UK?

Guess we'll have to wait & see, hopefully it will be ok (didn't the pic show Freeview branding?) as nobody seems to be doing anything about TV Player. Interesting if it includes HD channels as well.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

First thing TV player need to do is upgrade the picture quality, it is not great on the existing app and then make sure they are on all the streaming boxes. Although I fully expect Now TV to add a load more channels and go full HD and add multi channel sound. surely they must see this is the future and what consumers want.

I sincerely hope you are right about Now TV but I wonder what they would use as a point of difference between Satellite & IPTV. The full package with Sky is around £70pm (although every man & his dog seems to be able to get it for around £40pm at the moment) and fully optioned Now TV goes for around £48pm in SD with quite a few channels missing. An HD package would need to be structured so as not to unduly affect the satellite business whilst, at the same time, giving non-Sky customers the incentive to sign-up. I'm sure it could be done and it will be interesting to see if it comes to pass.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

Don't be surprised to see HULU show up in uk some point in future, i expressed a interest in it ages ago for UK and they sent a survey out tonight asking about tv habits, shows, would i pay more for a commercial free option, would i be interested in Viacom, itv studios, bbc content, would i like to see Sky shows too.
I think they may be thinking about launching in uk.
I currently have a USA sub commercial free costs £8p/m.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

To avoid buffering, does it help to pause the programme for a bit to let it build up, or doesn't it work like that?
