I have had a set back with my HBP as tweaking my current meds enough to bring them back to normal apparently will be too risky so I am on a low dose of Lisinopril (1 tablet daily) and even over a few days this has brought my readings back nearer normal. Well apart from yesterday and my having a full scale tantrum.

Sorry to hear about your brother in law coming to the end of his ability to care for your sister. My father cared for my mother for many years but in the end his health suffered badly and he had to admit defeat. It wasn't an easy decision to make so my heart goes out to you all. Happily my mother lived for several years in the Nursing Home and he was able to spend hours every day with her without the physical strain of being responsible for her 24/7.

I just have a couple of appointments this week and hopefully I should be able to find out what my Consultants have dreamed up to keep me stable. I hope your appointments all go smoothly and that your transport turns up.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 7
Put a new pair of contact lenses in this morning and I've just realised that I didn't pack a contact lens case... duh! Suggestions on the back of a postcard.
These 2 coffee cups look like they may serve a purpose.

Thank you Den just the usual stuff, cough mixture/sweets, paracetamol etc, none of which ever seem to work. Just have to wait until it has run it's course. I'm making a fuss about nothing really. The weather's pretty dire anyway so staying in is the best option. Will look for a film on the telly this afternoon.

Don't think it's quite the effect that the chain was hoping for. Just shows what probably looked good on the designers lappy turned out rather different in practice.
Accoustic engineer anybody?

Yup, that's one of my gripes - the plethora of TV home/DIY shows which portray open-living, wood/tiled flooring throughout, glass from top to bottom, stainless steel/granite everywhere and, usually, the absence of such trivia as storage space as if they're in some way conducive to a relaxing and satisfying family life... Satisfying I suppose if you don't mind spending your time wearing ear plugs, removing smears/finger marks/dust or trying to study whilst someone's cooking dinner a few feet away and the kids are watching cartoons on TV.
Still I don't suppose it'll be too long before these same 'experts' will all be praising the virtues of having separate rooms/partitions, carpets, curtains, wallpaper and the like....

The reminds me of when one of my favourite pubs was taken over and closed for a refit. The company that took it over had a reputation round here for taking lovely old pubs, ripping out all the old stuff and replacing it with new, modern looking, fittings. In the process, in a lot of cases, they removed the atmosphere and replaced it with a sort of bland, chain pub atmosphere.
So, when I passed my favourite pub that they had just taken over, and saw it was closed for refurbishment, I was a little sad.
Some nine months later, the refurbishment finished and the pub opened. They had replaced all the old fittings with new, but had used almost exactly the same design the pub originally had. The only new thing that was added was a large plasma TV, which is used for big sporting events, and the toilets were massively upgraded.
Lets just say that everyone was shocked.
