Or maybe it sums up ESPN. Or maybe they're still haggling over the price. Or maybe they're working on a bigger, better deal for VM customers. Or maybe, ... well anything, really. Give it some time, wait to see what happens.

The way VM work is that 'there is technical problem' and it won't come onto our screens, until the day before the season starts, if no one else wants to say it, l will, we are always the last ones, to get anything new.

so how come SKY, BT Vision and TUTV have managed to get everything sorted within 24 hours yet VM are "still in talks" ???
Sky have if for free on their news & events pack or for £1 per month extra
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitalt...ents-pack.html
so why do VM think its ok to rip us off £10 per month ???
the truth is its nothing to do with ESPN is more like VM are too far up themselves to be realistic about paying for the rights.

No point commenting on something you don't understand. Wait until an announcement.

VM haven't announced anything yet, so how do you know they want to rip you off? At least wait until they say it's "coming soon" before getting too upset about it. And if you then don't like the price, don't pay it.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
I would love to know how much VM paid for Setanta Sports package, which entitled us to see it incorporated into the XL tv package for no extra cost, I wonder if they can pull off the same trick with ESPN

I doubt that VM payed Setanta very much at all, the plus in it for Setanta would have been the extra exposure and extra advertising revenue they could have charged.

I think it was about £3m per year.
I think the deal was £2.50 per viewer every month.
Also:
1. NASN/ESPN was not FREE for XL viewers - they had to pay extra for it.
2. Non XL got ESPN free if they order the Setanta Sports Pack.
So Virgin are just moving everyone into the ESPN XL Viewers deal until they can do an deal with ESPN then...

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Details of the new ESPN channel should be released tomorrow along with the arrangements ESPN and Sky have put in place in regards to pricing and EPG position on satellite. VM is still in talks with ESPN with regards to whether Premiership content on the new channel will appear on VM - a 100% certainty I think.
Broadcast is reporting that Hallmark is to be replaced with the Universal Channel this year. NBC Universal will also rebrand its other channels Diva, Sci Fi and Movies 24 too. Details to be announced within the next two months.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
The way you have to look at is, VM are now the only company too 'still in talks' when everyone else has it sorted.
As l said before, VM will wait till the last minute, before putting it on cable, as before they are way behind everyone else, and the worst thing is, they don't keep US informed.

I think they do want to keep us informed but just don't want to say anything until it is all finalised. I think the reason that they are taking so long is due to the fact that us customers had a good deal on the Setanta side of things and now that has gone they want to get us the best deal possible on the ESPN side of things. I don't think you should start criticising Virgin when you don't yet have a basis to criticise them on.

I love football and enjoy watching films, but I can live without HD. HD is a nice extra, I don't need it to enjoy the things I love.

So it might not be in Sky's News and Events pack for long.
