Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Son home from his base in Yorkshire for 2 weeks.
He was due to be posted in Cyprus from January but that has been changed now and he will be going to Dubai in the summer.
We are hoping to get out there and visit if it is practical....

I also have 16 days off now.
Not travelling anywhere (had no plans to do so anyway, I have no need to).
Family christmas dinner will still be on the 25th (all but two live here already, plus one has always been in our support bubble).
So basically xmas day wont be any different to last year.
New year will be the same as well, didnt go out last year, and wont be going out this year - drinks at home !

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
The new Christmas rules do have a silver lining - we can make our excuses and be on our way home by midnight! As much as I love my sister-in-law and enjoy going there at Christmas I also enjoy getting home again - and this year I know it'll by by 1am!!

Lewis won SPOTY. I didn't expect him to win honestly due to the negative press he's had by those who don't know the truth.
Well here's hoping next year he'll win again after taking title no 8 and 100+ poles & wins.
Oh yeah he is expected to be Sir Lewis, which is about time, are other F1 drivers got it for far less.

Well technically you could leave at a silly hour and have a kip on their sofa, then do the same later.

Jackie Stewart was knighted 26 years after his 3rd title, Jack Brabham was knighted 13 years after his final title, and Stirling Moss 20 years after he retired.
Hopefully Hamilton won't have to wait that long...

I'm sticking to my original plans of going on the 23rd and coming back on the 27th because I live alone at the moment so can form a support bubble with my parents.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Just done a last shop to get some odds and ends. Only thing I couldn't get was some Shropshire Blue cheese but we've got 4 other kinds (Stilton, Mature Cheddar, Le Roulé and Feta) for Xmas evenings cheese board so not an issue.
Sainsbury's was busy but no stock shortages or apparent panic buying though now being shoved into tier 4 Boxing Day may change that.
Cupboards and two freezers are well stocked. Time to relax.

Boris hasn't cocked Christmas up.
I blame 1000% the people who try and find away around the rules or ignore them.
They are the reason I cannot be with my sister this year which is very important.
Tomorrow for won't be Christmas Day, it will just be a Sunday roast type day.
Nothing would make me happier than police knocking on the rule breakers doors tomorrow mid meal and fining every person in the house and kicking out those who shouldn't be there.

I myself know how truly some people are, so after the last lock down I bought tinned stuff and filled the freezer with meat and veg, as I expected more agro down the road.
The only thing I don't have lots of is white bread and milk, other than a loaf and pint in freezer.
Worst case we have no white bread for sandwiches, I might have to suffer that awful granary stuff that ends up in the gum line.
