Just a heads up for anybody who likes a decent pie: Sainsbury's are knocking out Pukka pies at a quid a pop for the next week or so. Can be frozen and also cooked from frozen so stock up while you can.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Just spent four hours in LGI A&E with my son (aged 27).
Why is it a happy thought?
Well, I get a call from him at just before 8am, saying he has been knocked off his bike (he cycles to/from Leeds City Centre from Far Headingley to get to work), and he ended up flying over the car's bonnet and landing 10 feet beyond the car - since he was only five minutes (on the Otley Road) from our house, it was quicker for me to pick him up and take him to A&E than ring/wait for an ambulance (this was on the advice of a passing GP who stopped and did a quick once-over).
Well, after initial triage and x-rays to the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee (all right hand side), the good news was that it was just lots of road rash and extensive bruising, with nothing broken - he will be on crutches for a couple of days, but should be mostly back to normal in around a week (not so sure about the bike, though...).
So, best possible outcome of what could have been a really bad situation.
(my son was cycling down the Otley Road bus lane when the car turned left into Cottage Road, cutting across the bus lane - perfectly legal, but he didn't see my son, so car/bike interface scenario occurred; the driver was very apologetic, and waited for me to arrive before leaving).
Please don't turn this into a car/bike rant, as it is not the point of this post - I am just very pleased my son didn't have serious injuries.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Just phoned hospital for a CT scan and they have a cancellation so can get it done Monday. (I can't have an MRI because I have a pacemaker - leads are not MRI safe.)

Actually if you have someone with pacemaker technical knowledge from the pacemaker department who was present during a MRI scan there should not be a problem as they can turn off the pacemaker if needed before the MRI is done and then put it back on after the scan is done.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
just got back from seeing my cousin who I have only seen once before, several years ago. She gave me some Vegimite.
She lives in Oz and moved there 40 years ago.
chatting about things and there are that many spiders in Perth WA.
I was chatting to her husband who I found out is a retired FIFA ref who did some world cups.
He even has his own Wiki page. So does that count as knowing someone famous?

My sister once touched Dustin Hoffmans hand..... He was filiming in the street outside and he popped inside the newsagent to buy some pencils, she gave him lots of small change for his £50 note (bleeding idiot).

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
I worked with a guy until recently whos hand was used in 1 of the indiana jones movies, no one would put their hand into a hole full of bugs so his hand was used after being made to look like a womans hand.
Anyway we're a bit off topic now.
